Child in the car and no rear seat belts

- In my car, there are seat belts only in the front seat, but not in the back. How should I transport my child? Is it necessary to install such belts?

Commissioner Dariusz Antoniszyn from the Traffic Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław answers readers' questions

– If the vehicle is not equipped with seat belts, children are transported freely without a child seat or other protective device. In no case should you install such belts yourself. However, if a small passenger under the age of 12 is traveling in the front seat, he must be transported in a protective seat. In this case, the child must not be carried rear facing if the vehicle is equipped with a passenger airbag.

As a reminder, in vehicles factory equipped with rear seat belts, children under 12 years of age or up to 150 cm in height may only be transported in a car seat or other protective device such as a seat. This requirement does not apply to light taxis, ambulances or police vehicles.
