Rare Sports Cars: B. Engineering Edonis – Sports Cars

World supercar this is much more than it might seem. Dream cars aren't limited to the regular Ferraris and Lambo on the list; there are countless small manufacturers, limited edition models and forgotten stars.

Those who love speed probably know this, others have never heard of it, but Edonis is not only a fast and rare supercar, but also part of our history.

Birth of Edonis

When Jean Marc Borel acquired part of the Bugatti Motors plant in 2000, he seized the opportunity to pursue his dream of building his own supercar.

So his company Borrell Engineering, based on the "holy land" of motors, has released 21 Edonis based on Bugatti EB110... Top engineers from manufacturers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati have taken part in a project to create a car that will enhance the prestige of the territory and Italian engineering in the automotive field.

Only the carbon fiber frame was taken from the Bugatti EB, and the mechanical part was completely redesigned.

Engine and power

Il 12-liter V3.5 and 5 valves per cylinder were increased to 3.7, and the four turbines characteristic of the EB 110 were replaced by two larger IHI turbines.

The biturbo's torque delivery was nothing short of brutal, and the soundtrack of turbo whistles and puffs at altitude was extreme to say the least.

La of Edon it developed 680 hp. and 750 Nm of torque, transmitted exclusively through the rear wheels via the gearbox (the EB 110 had a much heavier all-wheel drive system with three differentials).

This weight saving allowed the machine to achieve incredible results. weight-to-power ratio 480 h.p. / t. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h was overcome in 3,9 seconds, and the declared maximum speed was 365 km / h.

Extreme in all areas

Aesthetically, Edonis vaguely resembles its "matrix" Bugatti, especially with regard to the nose and headlights. The rest of the body, on the other hand, is a feast of sculpted geometric lines, air intakes and exotic and eye-catching details.

It cannot be called beautiful or harmonious, but it definitely has the stage presence of a supercar, and such exaggeration of the lines is justified by the wrathful and savage strength.

Of 21 samples promised by Jean Marc Borel, it is not known how much was actually sold. The Edonis price in 2000 was 750.000 euros.

Unfortunately, the project has been lost over the years, probably due to economic and logistical difficulties in managing the production of a car of this magnitude; but the Edonis remains a shining example of what few Italian sports car engineers are capable of.
