The cause of this problem can be one of two things:

1. The gearshift lever itself rattles;
2. The gearshift mechanism (aka “helicopter”) loosened up;

In the first case, the problem is solved much easier and cheaper. You can eliminate ringing directly from the salon. You do not need any special knowledge of the automotive industry. Using the instructions below, you will not face unnecessary difficulties.

As for the second case, the situation is more complicated, more expensive, and the intervention of a specialist may be required. The problem is solved already from under the bonnet of the car. The second case will be considered in the next article.

Let's get down to the algorithm solutions to the problem in 1 case.

We need: electrical tape, grease (lithol) and a screwdriver.

1. First you need to remove the casing. It is secured with four latches (2 in the front, 2 in the back). By slightly bending the rim with your hands, either from the front or from the back, you can remove the cover.
2. Now you need to remove, using a screwdriver, the black latch from the gearshift lever (as shown in the figure) and pull it out.
3. We bend the latch and take it out.

5. We take out the gearshift lever, wipe off all the old grease. Now we need electrical tape. We wrap the convex part of the lever, as shown in the figure. How much to wrap? From experience: 2 full turns were not enough, 4 were many, the lever did not fit into place, or the tape slipped. Optimal - 3 turns.We wrap with electrical tape, after removing the old grease.
6. Now it is necessary to lubricate all the contacting parts (where the electrical tape and the lower hole are) abundantly with new grease (preferably using lithol). After all parts are lubricated, put the lever in place, insert the latch and secure it.

Tip: before fixing the casing - try to drive and evaluate the results, you may have made few turns of electrical tape, then the ringing may remain, but if you overdid it (and you managed to insert it in a rewound state), then the gears may turn on tightly.
