Car windshield repair
26% of drivers in Poland admit that they drive with damaged windows, and 13% do not pay attention to their condition at all. At the same time, 94% of respondents agree that the condition of the glass is of key importance for road safety. This is the result of a Millward Brown SMG/KRC study commissioned by NordGlass.
The survey results show that we recognize that good visibility makes driving safer. Unfortunately, the data also shows that almost 1/3 of drivers drive on roads with broken glass. Ignoring a crack is not only a potential reduction in visibility while driving. It also exposes itself to an unpleasant encounter with the police.
- If the driver of the car sees in the field of view damage on the windshield that limits visibility, he must take into account the fine, and in the case of road control, even the retention of the registration certificate, - says the young inspector. Dr. Dariusz Podles from the Police Headquarters. “In such a situation, officers are required to issue a coupon for up to 250 zlotys,” he adds. Car owners are responsible for the condition of their windshields.
The reason why drivers feel free to drive out to the garage may be a misconception about the prices of workshop services and the amount of time required for repairs. The truth is that it is short and relatively inexpensive. - Few people know that windshield repair, or even its replacement, is really fast. Repairs take about 30 minutes, and glass replacement takes about an hour and a half,” says Artur Wienckowski from NordGlass.
Currently, this method allows us to efficiently repair small chips before they grow to a size that needs to be replaced. In order for the glass to be repairable, the damage must be smaller than a five zloty coin (i.e. 24 mm) and be at least 10 cm from the nearest edge. The cost of such repairs is 140 PLN. It should also be added that repairing a small crack can save us the high cost of replacing the entire glass. Chips and cracks tend to quickly spread over the entire surface.
