Renault 4 is now a flying car and is called AIR4.

Renault AIR4 is designed not to travel on roads, but to fly over them. In fact, it can be considered a kind of super drone, which the brand introduced as part of its 60th anniversary.

Yesterday Renault unveiled its new AIR4, an aircraft inspired by the iconic Renault 4, for its 60th anniversary. 

The AIR4 will be on public display from next Monday until the end of the year in the center of Paris at the Atelier Renault on the Champs Elysées, along with other historic versions of the Renault 4.

2021 marks the 60th anniversary of the Renault 4, and to celebrate, the carmaker has partnered with TheArsenale mechanism design center to create a futuristic show car that reimagines this iconic model.

The brand describes the car on its page as follows: “The original Renault 4 was a simple, efficient and versatile vehicle produced between 1961 and 1992. A car in the style of "blue jeans", as the former director of the Renault Group, Pierre Dreyfus, used to say. to describe it. A true icon that is passed down to families, companies and individuals such as the gendarmerie and La Poste, as well as helping several generations of young drivers get behind the wheel.”

Everything that Renault 4 presents for customers has convinced Arsenale about collaborating with Renault to reinvent the 4L, designed to be driven on the road with a flying car.

The AIR4 flying show car is something that hasn't been seen before and is a hint of what this icon might look like in another 60 years. This new aircraft was conceived, designed, manufactured and assembled entirely in France, in the heart of Europe's first technology park Sophia Antipolis on the Côte d'Azur.

Starting in 2022, AIR4 will arrive in the US in Miami and then in New York.
