RENAULT CAPTUR LPG: SAVING ON BEAUTY

There is an opinion that beautiful women are associated with high costs. However, the Renault Captur refutes this cliché, especially if it is equipped with the factory gas system, the modification of which we drive today.

First of all, I must note that I am aware that the name of the model "Kapot" in Bulgarian is masculine, and I am talking about the car in the feminine. I just feel it. And I'm convinced that the vast majority of its audience is female (although with over 1,5 million sales since 2013, when the first generation came out, I may not be entirely correct). Captur's strength since its first generation has been the various exterior and interior color combinations, as well as a host of customization options. And these things are mostly interested in women. Okay, there are more and more men lately, but are they really men?

Acute

So, let's start with the most important thing for this model - design. He became sharper and more dynamic. The features of the Clio and Megane stand out distinctly but in SUV form. With more chrome and sports car borrowings such as a trapezoidal lower grille, swollen fenders and chunky bumpers, the designers managed to make the Captur look more "airy". Beauty with character.

The model is equipped with the new Clio platform and therefore has increased dimensions - from almost 11 cm in length to 4,33 m and from 2 cm of wheelbase to almost 2,63 m. And this means more space in the cabin and a larger trunk. Its volume reaches as much as 536 liters, since the rear seat moves along the rails within 16 cm. The 48-liter gas cylinder does not “eat up” the cargo volume, since it is in place of the spare. tire.

The interior has been significantly improved. Cool, soft-touch materials, modern screens in front of the driver (10,2 inches) and center console (7, which was the test car or 9,3 inches), and of course, many options for painting the interior. The seats are very comfortable, well padded and very elegantly shaped, especially in the headrests.

The cool detail is the preserved glove box that opens like a box that holds much more than the standard ones.

Eco

The propane-butane version is equipped with a 1 liter 3-cylinder engine with 100 hp. and 170 Nm of torque. This is the only engine that can only be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission (the rest have a 6-speed gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic). The transmission for the entire model range is only on the front wheels, 4x4 is still missing. As weak as the unit may seem, it is actually remarkably nimble thanks to its turbocharging and good torque at low revs (from 2000 rpm). For several years now, one-liter engines are no longer what they used to be. But its biggest advantage is that it was designed to run on gas and petrol from the factory, making it difficult to understand the difference in "transition" between the two fuels. Not to say a loud word, but it even seemed to me that the gas rides a little better.

I don’t understand how screens can convey such a large amount of information (project road signs, measure the distance from the front car in seconds, show instant “consumption” of Newton meters and horsepower, offer a 360-degree view). inspect the car, you can bring it directly to the phone screen, etc.), but there is no on-board computer to determine fuel consumption. We'll have to believe the French, who say that in the combined cycle, the car burns 7,6-7,9 liters of gas and 6-6,2 liters of gasoline per 100 km (WLTP) .. With the average price of liquefied gas in the country currently 84 cents, 100 km of run will cost you about 6,40-6,50 leva. If you use the entire capacity of both gasoline and a gas tank (also 48 liters), you can drive about 1000 km to a gas station stop.

Soft

Behavior on the road exactly corresponds to the female character of Captur - soft and comfortable, but in a competent, and not in an unpleasant sense.

It makes sense that you don't think potential customers are looking for sporty driving emotions? It rides great for the segment and works out bumps very well. It sways a little in corners, but there is no word about instability. What I didn't like is that the gears work like hot oil and don't give the crisp sensitivity you switched. But I think this is also a desirable effect for women who don't like a lot of resistance.

Overall, the perception of the Captur depends a lot on how you look at it. If you're expecting an adventurous SUV model, you'll be disappointed. However, if you find it the more practical and beautiful Clio, chances are good it will win you over.
