Test drive Renault Clio Sport F1-Team: Beast

197 horsepower in a small car: Renault is no joke with its new pride, the Clio Sport F1-Team, powered by a high-speed two-liter four-cylinder engine.

Warm yellow paintwork, heavily swollen front fenders and body-like F1 adhesive films: in this “package” the Renault Clio Sport F1 is definitely not intended for people who care about restraint ...

Everywhere you look, the car looks distinctly dynamic, and in borderline mode its behavior is characterized by a perceptible but not dangerous tendency to skid backwards - metaphorically speaking, this Clio moves along the road with the ease and agility of a professional salsa dancer. giving the pilot great driving pleasure.

The engine will delight every sports car enthusiast.

The Clio's engine certainly doesn't shine with monstrous thrust, leaving that privilege to its turbo-equipped counterparts, but on the other hand, it can easily reach speeds of up to 7500 rpm. In addition, the two-liter naturally aspirated machine produces sound worthy of a much larger unit.

It's a pity that Renault forcibly tames the car with electronics from 197 km / h at 215 km / h. And if we talk about taming, a braking distance of 37 meters from 100 kilometers per hour is an indicator that can be measured on racing sports cars, especially under extreme loads the brakes of the French beast practically do not lose efficiency. So anyone looking for true small-class driving pleasure is sure to be in the right place with the Clio Sport. The car is not without flaws - the suspension provides excellent stability on the road, but requires serious compromises with comfort, and average fuel consumption is quite high at 11,2 liters per 100 kilometers.

Evaluation

Renault Clio Sport F1-Team

Along with numerous purely stylistic changes, the F1-Team version includes a very stiff suspension and hard racing seats - a joy for sporty drivers, but not likely to please everyone. The dynamic characteristics of the drive, road behavior and brakes are excellent. However, the cost is quite high and traction could be better.
