Renault Grand Scenic 2.0 dCi (110 ) Proactive Privilege

You know, at the Renault Grand Scenic, we can talk in detail about the beauty of the body strokes, whether those 23 centimeters contribute more than the classic Scenic to a downgrading opinion on appearance, boring design, or just coldness for users. However, when the "debate" about usability begins, only one truth applies - Grand Scenic is one of the champions, if it had not been awarded the undisputed first place and the Grand Cup. And all of us in society adhere to this opinion, because we simply cannot defend anything else.

The trunk has 83 liters more space than the classic Scenic (513 instead of 430 liters in the base and 1920 instead of 1840 liters in the folded rear seats), and the flexibility of the already large trunk is further increased, even the customs officer will be amazed (four closed boxes in floor, two drawers under the front seats, a large enclosed space between the front seats and two openings in the doors), not to mention the longitudinally movable (very useful) console between the front seats!

In the test, we had a five-seat version, which in the era of low Slovenian fertility is probably much more suitable than a seven-seat version. Of course, the Scenic spoils the hardware too: the Privilege equipment also includes a smart key (recommended!), Electrically adjustable side windows and mirror adjustment, ESP, cruise control, steering wheel controls for radio with CD player ( optional!), air conditioning, on-board computer and many (as many as six) airbags.

The mission of the Scenic is first and foremost a family affair, also evidenced by Isofix mountings, an adjustable rear child restraint (optional!) and an additional interior rear-view mirror with which the driver can control what children in the rear seats indicate. '.

The two-liter turbodiesel engine, which produces 110 kilowatts (or 150 domestic "horses") with Common Rail technology, has done an excellent job. Quiet enough so that there is no need to scream inside the cabin, nervous enough not to scare any truck in your path, equipped with a particulate filter, so that a black cloud of smoke does not roll behind you, and most of all, moderate thirst, which matters more than irritation of the fuel.

For a hundred kilometers in the test, we used a round 8 liters, which is more than good for such a large car. Of course, we also have to take into account the fact that in the test we had the automatic six-speed Proactive transmission. If we wrote the name “Proactive” in Slovenian, we could say that the gearbox is “for active”, but based on common sense, we would say “for passive”. So for those who prefer to rest their right arm and left leg at the end of the trail.

The drivetrain runs very smoothly at low speeds, slightly less in more demanding driving (higher revs, faster accelerator and brake pedal commands), but still so good that we marked it as very suitable for this car. With concern. If you have selected the program for manual (sequential) gear shifting, then the inscription of the current gear on the instrument panel is too small, and it is also poorly visible to those who do not yet need prescription glasses. A trifle that over time begins to bother you greatly.

It is by no means clear to us why Renault has given so little room to the accelerator pedal, since (since there is no clutch pedal) there is enough room to get king's space. This is how it turns out that you press both the accelerator pedal and the brake pedal at the same time on the summer (wider) shoe soles, not to mention in the winter, when the shoes are even wider! Therefore, in addition to the large-sized steering wheel, it deserves a big minus in this regard.

If in the aforementioned boyish arguments you insist that the Scenic is a good family car, then in addition to flexibility, you can easily boast a 150-horsepower turbodiesel engine, an automatic transmission and a huge trunk. If you bet with the wrong Tomaz on a drink, the liquid snack will not escape you. Of course at their expense!
