Renault Austral. The SUV that will replace the Renault Kadjar

Austral is a new C-segment SUV that will replace the Renault Kadjar in the lineup. The car will go to showrooms this year.

The car is built on the CMF-CD platform. This is the same floor slab that the Nissan Qashqai was made on. The wheelbase is 267 cm. The competition for new items will include Toyota RAV, Volkswagen Tiguan, Kia Sportage or Hyundai Tucson.

The new Austral has all the traditional SUV features: front and rear skid plates, side and lower skid plates in a contrasting color, increased ground clearance and a high glass line.

The wide, staggered grille is slit at the top with a chrome strip that seamlessly merges with the headlights. The strip visually expands the car. Renault's new "Nouvel'R" logo (pronounced "new era" in French) emphasizes the car's modern character. The new Australian headlights are 100% LED. At the front, they feature the signature C-Shape in an updated form.

The Austral model will only go on sale with hybrid drives. There will be variety with diesel and plug-in hybrids. All-wheel drive was also abandoned. Hybrids are based on two petrol engines of 1,2 and 1,3 liters.

Equipment includes a 12-speaker Harman Kardon system with a subwoofer in the trunk and a multimedia system from Google Android Automotive.
