Rating of summer tires with a strong sidewall - the best models of popular manufacturers
Content
Strength characteristics at a height, on a normal surface show good handling, the noise level is acceptable.
In the spring, along with snow, asphalt disappears in many cities of Russia. Pits, potholes, cracks - such is the unsightly reality that surrounds our motorists. Under these conditions, the strength characteristics of tires are of particular importance - the tire must withstand significant loads and at the same time not reduce driving comfort. We have compiled a rating of summer tires with a rigid sidewall to make it easier for car enthusiasts to choose.
Soft and durable tires: comparison
The behavior of a tire on the road is always the result of a compromise between reliability and comfort. On one extreme here are soft sidewall tires (eg Michelin Primacy 3, Hankook Tire Ventus V12). These tires are for the most comfortable ride on good roads. It is thanks to their softness that they perfectly keep the trajectory, not allowing the car to skid even on a sharp turn, cope with small bumps, and are distinguished by a low noise level.
On the other extreme are wear-resistant tires with a rigid sidewall (for example, Maxxis Premitra HP5, Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2). These tires, while maintaining good handling, perfectly withstand shock loads when driving over bumps, can maintain integrity in a side impact (for example, on a curb or pothole) at speeds up to 70 km / h. Their disadvantages are increased noise, more “shaking” ride.
Thus, the answer to the question whether hard summer tires are good or bad is obvious: for domestic provincial roads, this is a completely reasonable decision.
How to choose summer tires with a strong sidewall
When buying summer tires with a good sidewall, you should remember that there is no generally accepted designation for such tires. Therefore, each proposed copy will have to be considered separately, with a search for reviews and with visits to manufacturers' websites.
There are also tires created using RSC (RunFlat System Component) technology, or simply RunFlat.
These are tires with a “super-strong” sidewall: you can drive several tens of kilometers on them even with a completely flat tire.
Rating of summer tires with a rigid sidewall
Our rating of summer tires with a rigid sidewall includes models of well-known and popular manufacturers in our country.
Bridgestone Turanza T005
Deserved leader of all polls, the best summer tires with a strong sidewall. Virtually "indestructible" tires with excellent handling, outstanding durability. Of the minuses - a tendency to hydroplaning.

Toyo Proxes CF2
Decent tires that don't mind potholes and ditches.
They hold their course well on straight stretches of road. They handle worse in corners and on wet surfaces. They make a lot of noise at high speeds.

Profile width, mm | 165-245 |
Landing diameter | 15-18 |
Type of transport | A car |
Tread pattern | asymmetric |
Nexen N blue HD Plus
These tires do not care about all the "charms" of our roads. Strength characteristics at a height, on a normal surface show good handling, the noise level is acceptable. But on a wet surface, they require increased attention from the driver and a decrease in speed.
Features | |
Profile width, mm | 145-235 |
Landing diameter | 13-17 |
Type of transport | A car |
Tread pattern | Directional, asymmetrical |
Kama Euro-129
Tires of a domestic manufacturer will cope with any flaw in the roadway, and with its complete absence, too. At the same time, they are low priced. But the handling is mediocre, the tires quickly "age", subject to aquaplaning.
