Rivian will start shipping the R1T and R1S from March 2022.

After a months-delay that Rivian has experienced in production of its R1T and R1S electric models, the automaker is ready to begin deliveries. Rivian has shared emails with booking owners informing them of their vehicle delivery dates.

Rivian started making cars for customers last September but is now poised to ramp up deliveries. Rivian's forums perked up Tuesday night when the company began emailing booking holders delivery dates for its electric pickups and electric SUVs.

Before the appearance of R1T and R1S, there are still a few months.

A survey has been created on the forum so that everyone can get an idea of when most customers will receive their vehicles. Most respondents said they received estimated delivery dates from March to June 2022. This is for R1T, but R1S customers are reporting more estimated delivery dates between June and September next year.

These estimates are for Launch Edition models, which are naturally ahead of the standard trucks and SUVs that Rivian plans to release in the future. Regardless, it remains a milestone for a company that has never built a car before.

Rivian plans expansion with new headquarters

The startup, which raised money from a hugely successful initial public offering, plans to expand a second factory outside of its Illinois home. It will also build a new electric van for Amazon's delivery service as it continues to ramp up production of the R1T and R1S.
