Rivian delays R2T electric pickup by 1 month

The Rivian R1T was supposed to be ahead of its competitors and be the first electric pickup truck to hit the streets. But now the Rivian R1T is facing delays after deliveries were due to begin this month.

We know that the people who bought the Launch Edition are very excited. Their new EV trucks were supposed to be delivered this month. But Letter found mentioning R1T battery vans being delayed until September.

It's not the end of the world. So far, only two additional months of waiting have been added. Those hoping for a Ford Bronco may not get their SUV until 2023. But it's still disappointing.

Rivian CEO, R. J. Scaringeseems to understand. He shared that Rivian knows he can't wait to get behind the wheel of his car. Scaringe wanted buyers to hear the news directly from him.

He shared that while it was announced earlier in the summer that deliveries would start in July, the dates for the first R1T models have been pushed back to September. The Rivian R1S will be delivered shortly thereafter in the fall.

What caused Rivian's delay?

If you guessed it, the 1 Rivian R2021T is facing delays due to the ongoing outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), then you are right. Nonetheless, it also affects.

Scaringe explained that the cascading effects of the pandemic had a more significant impact than anyone expected. Everything was affected, from the construction of facilities to the supply of semiconductor chips and the installation of equipment.

In addition to these challenges, launching three new vehicles in preparation for a multi-car plant was challenging. Minor problems that arise in the course of coordinated and interconnected actions can cause delays.

Rivian's plant in Normal, Illinois currently produces vehicles on two production lines. One is for R1T and R1S SUVs and the other is for Amazon electric vans. The company is working to ensure that these cars do not have quality problems.

What is the difference between R1T and R1S?

La The 1 Rivan R2021T Launch Edition is a truck that starts at $75,000., while the Rivian R1S Launch Edition is an SUV and costs approximately $77,500. Both vehicles have a large battery pack (135 kWh) with an EPA-estimated range of more than miles.

A longer range R2022T will be available in January 1 with a range of over 400 miles. The R1S will also get a model with a longer range. It will offer five to seven seats for passengers. This confirms that Rivian figured out how to pack the battery without getting rid of the third row.

Both cars are close to full-size variants. The R1T can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in three seconds and tow up to 11,000 pounds. The R1S can tow up to 7700 pounds. Both options have an inch of ground clearance and can wade through water more than three feet deep.

We hope that the shortage of chips and the outbreak of Covid-19 will not cause further delays. We can't wait to see what these electric SUVs are capable of when they are released into the wild!
