Rivian is awaiting US government approval to produce the R1T electric pickup truck.

The Rivian R1T electric pickup has been delayed for various reasons, but the company is ready to produce an electric car. Rivian notes that it will be possible to complete orders and use the brand's new mobile app in September.

Rivian says it is basically ready for production and is now awaiting government approval to begin shipping.

It was assumed that R1T will be delivered early this summer, but Rivian has run into some manufacturing issues, not surprisingly when launching a new automotive program, especially from a new startup that hasn't previously supplied consumer vehicles.

Rivian led the start of deliveries in September

Now, just a week before September, the company has released an update to booking owners with good news.

general manager R. J. Scaringe сказал latest R1T production units meet Rivian quality standards y they are now awaiting regulatory approval to start shipping:

“Over the past few months, we have been focused not only on increasing productivity, but also on improving quality in each of the five areas of our plant: stamping, bodywork, painting, assembly and powertrain (batteries and transmission units). . This complex process involves several assembly steps - many of these non-customer assembly steps have been tested under various conditions over the past year. These checks, tool tests and pilot cars are critical to our ongoing mileage accumulation program which helps us improve our products. With all that said, I'm happy to announce that we've begun producing vehicles that reflect all of our quality iterations and design refinements."

Rivian is basically waiting for the green light from the EPA and NTHSA.

If shipments start, Rivian should have some maintenance capability, and Scaringe has released an update to that effect. He confirmed that the automaker currently has five operational service centers, and the number will increase:

“Rivian Service Centers are already up and running in Brooklyn, NYBellevue, WANormal, ILSan Francisco y El Segundo, California. This is just the beginning of our growing network of service centers, which also includes a large fleet of mobile service vans for on-site vehicle repairs. By the end of the year 100, we plan to open more than 2023 service centers,” said Scaringe.

The CEO also spoke about Rivian's efforts to implement its own charging network.

“We also remain focused on building our charging network, including our DC fast chargers, which are part of our red rivian adventureas well as our level 2 AC chargers/sockets that are part of our network Rivian waypoints. The key to achieving our goal of 3,500+ CC shippers (across 600 locations) and 10,000 waypoints is providing a portfolio of excellent locations for these shippers. You'll start to see more of these pop-ups in the coming months, and by the end of the year construction will start to ramp up pretty quickly,” he explained.

Scaringe also said that booking owners will be able to complete their bookings next month, and the Rivian mobile app will also be available. in early September.
