2019 Rolls-Royce Phantom Unveils Ridiculously Luxurious 'Privacy Package'

Rolls-Royce customers used to enjoy being isolated from the masses, but now they can be separated from help as well.

Like a first-class suite on an airplane, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Privacy Suite allows rear-seat drivers to effectively divide the car into completely separate sections using an electrochromatic glass screen that opens at the push of a button.

The glass is clear, allowing the driver in the back seat to see the road ahead. But at the touch of a button, the glass turns from transparent to opaque, giving the car owner complete privacy.

The glass, exclusive to the long-wheelbase variant, is engineered to be as soundproof as possible, and Rolls uses a "frequency-dependent compound" that blocks conversations taking place in the back seat from being heard ahead, but there's also an intercom system connection that gives direct access to the driver.

"The Privacy Suite represents a leap forward in sound absorption for a car already considered the world's quietest car, providing the highest level of sound isolation possible," Rolls-Royce said in a statement.

Looks like Rolls-Royce has thought of it too. The window, which can only be opened by the driver, allows the driver to transfer documents to the back seat, with the opening illuminated so that "passengers are satisfied with the nature of the documents or objects before they are received."

And in case the driver gets bored in the back seat, the new Theater Entertainment system serves up two 12-inch HD monitors that are also linked to the car's entertainment functions.
