Fenati approaches the world of two wheels in 2003, when he first goes to the track in minibikes, participating in various national trophies. In 2010 and 2011 he competes in the Italian Speed ​​Championship, where he finishes his second season second. His arrival at the World Championship will take place in 2012 in Moto3: in this category, he competes for 108 races, scoring 10 victories and 23 podiums, and collects second place overall in 2017. This season he moves to Moto2, the same category in which he will be the protagonist in the colors of MV Agusta Reparto Corse Forward Racing next year.
