In December of this year, Rosomak SA factories are handing over to the military the first batch of Rosomak wheeled armored personnel carriers in a new specialized version - Technical Reconnaissance Vehicle. This will be the first in four years - after two carriers of the multi-sensor reconnaissance and surveillance system - a new version of this machine, put into service in the Polish armed forces. It is worth emphasizing that although the contract with the Armaments Inspectorate was formally concluded by a company from Silesian Siemianowice, other "Silesian armored companies" also actively participated in the project: Zakłady Mechaniczne Bumar-Łabędy SA, as well as Ośrodek Badawczo-Rozwojowy Urządzeń. Mechanical OBRUM Sp. z oo, which can be considered an exemplary example of synergy between companies Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa SA

The Rosomak-based Technical Reconnaissance Vehicle (WRT) program has several years of history and is by no means simple. It begins in 2008 when the Ministry of National Defense began to analyze the possibility of increasing the order for Rosomak vehicles to more than 690 (plus 3) vehicles, mostly with new special options that were not in previous plans. At that time, it was about another 140 vehicles, and the target number of Rosomaks of all varieties in a motorized rifle battalion was to increase from 75 to 88. One of the new options was to be Rosomak-WRT, based on the so-called. - is called the base transporter, designed to ensure the activities of combat units equipped with the Rosomak armored personnel carrier, by: observation and technical reconnaissance on the battlefield for companies and motorized battalions, evacuation of small arms and equipment from the battlefield, providing basic technical assistance to damaged and immobilized equipment . The vehicle was part of a broader concept of unit support vehicles equipped with armored personnel carriers. The entry system also included a technical assistance vehicle, also using the basic version of the vehicle (adapted for more serious repairs in the field and equipped, among other things, with a high-capacity crane that allows you to raise the tower or remove the power unit). In 2008, by 2012, it was planned to acquire 25 Rosomak-WRTs.

First try

However, the prelude to the purchase of serial cars was to be the development of a car project based on the given requirements, its approval and the production of a prototype car, which was supposed to pass qualification tests. The implementation of the relevant development work was initiated by the conclusion of the contract IU/119/X-38/DPZ/U//17/SU/R/1.4.34.1/2008/2011 by the Arms Policy Department of the Ministry of National Defense and the then Wojskowe Zakłady Mechaniczne SA from Siemianowice Śląskie / U / / 28/SU/R/2009/XNUMX/XNUMX, which was signed on September XNUMX XNUMX. For the construction of the prototype, the previously produced vehicle was used was separated from the resources of the army. It is worth emphasizing that Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne SA from Poznań was invited to collaborate on the design of a new version of the car, which was also tasked with completing the car prototype.

The vehicle equipment included: a boom (crane) with a lifting capacity of 1 ton, diagnostic and service equipment for Rosomak, evacuation and rescue equipment (pneumatic lift), two electric generators (mounted in a car and portable), welding units for electric and gas welding (also for gas cutting tools), tool kits for quick mechanical and electrical repairs, dehumidifier, portable lighting with tripods, repair tent frame with tarpaulin, etc. The equipment was to be supplemented by a day/night all-round surveillance system with a head mounted on a mast at the rear of the ceiling.

Armament - a remote-controlled shooting position ZSMU-1276 A3 with a 7,62-mm machine gun UKM-2000S. Also, the car was supposed to receive the self-defense complex SPP-1 "Obra-3", interacting with 12 smoke grenade launchers (2 × 4, 2 × 2).
