A guide to using the OC calculator. You can buy third party liability insurance for less than you thought!

A guide to using the OC calculator. You can buy third party liability insurance for less than you thought! Can you find the cheapest third party liability insurance and buy it online in minutes? You can! It is enough to use the OS calculator, and even better - a multi-calculator, that is, an online insurance comparison site that presents offers from several insurance companies. If you haven't used this tool yet, check it out as soon as possible because it's worth it. Even if it turns out that this is not in your case (I'm not saying that 100% everyone will find the cheapest car insurance there), you will not lose anything - the calculation is free and safe. At best, you will get a better overview of the market offerings. That's all about the OC calculator... and now to the point: today I will tell you how to use it better, i.e. what to do to lower the price of a policy that you thought was impossible to lower ...

First, start the online liability insurance calculation

A guide to using the OC calculator. You can buy third party liability insurance for less than you thought! You can't do without it! Fill in all the empty form fields step by step and do not complain, although you probably want to. There are many questions about the car and its owner. But before you throw the mouse (most often at a question about your marital status or number of children) and start cursing the day you came up with virtual auto insurance, consider: the comparison engine calculates the offers of several insurance companies for you and should use the rate of each of them. Due to the individual assessment of insurance risks, different information is requested from everyone, so questions continue to come.

Already have online calculation results? Did you know that not all auto insurance quotes are final? Some societies will allow you to lower them even further. For this:

Look for promo codes

On the direct websites of some insurance companies, you can search for combinations of numbers, letters, etc., which entitle you to an additional discount. They are entered in a special field of the OC calculator and, thus, the price of the policy is reduced by about 5-8% (depending on the offer of this company).

The promo code is not just for people who buy third party liability insurance online (i.e. over the internet). If you chose to purchase the policy by phone, you can check with the consultant about the possibility of providing an additional discount. Of course, not every adviser has "such strength", because here the agreement between the comparison site and the insurance company is at stake, but it does not hurt to ask. “Who asks is not mistaken”, and in the case of liability insurance to third parties - who asks, he saves. Rankomat.pl is one of the comparison sites that I know of, where consultants had the opportunity to use the promotional code of selected insurers. Here you will find his liability insurance calculator and, if necessary, contact details.

Pay for third party liability insurance with a credit card

Cash, bank transfer - no matter how - you said "A" (meaning I'm buying), you also have to say "B" and pay for your car insurance. Why not use a credit card for this? It really pays off. Thanks to it, you can save not only the time of waiting for the formation of the policy (because this is the fastest payment), but also money. The standard credit card bonus ranges from 4 to 10%. Unfortunately, there is one drawback - not all insurance companies are ready for this form of transaction. Information about the possibility of paying by card and the amount of the discount provided can be found after going from the comparison site to the calculator of the selected company.

Take advantage of discounts for co-owners

One of the most common user mistakes is the incorrect introduction of discounts without claims on the insurance comparison site. By filling out the information in the form, declare more favorable discounts, regardless of whether they are generated by the main owner of the vehicle or co-owner.

If you have not earned any discounts and are the sole owner: add a co-owner with full discounts to your insurance. Of course, the policy must match the data in the registration certificate, but it is enough that you donate a small part of the car (preferably to a family member, because then you do not pay tax) and you will “have in your hands” a document confirming this fact, and now you can conclude an agreement on new terms.

Very important: When granting a discount to another person, the co-owner must be aware that both of them are responsible for the damage caused. Together, they will also lose part of next year's discount on the policies of all vehicles they own.

Take advantage of your spouse's discounts

You do not need to be a co-owner of a vehicle for your spouse to be eligible for joint discounts.

Example: My husband has insured all cars for himself so far and has the maximum discount for a no-claims trip. My wife bought a car for the first time. If they have joint property, they can enter husband's discounts in the liability insurance calculator. The husband, of course, must agree to this and, as in the case of joint property, reckon that if the wife causes damage, he too will lose part of the accident-free driving discount.

Before buying insurance, be sure to check whether the chosen insurance company allows such a decision. Of the companies I know, you can safely buy such a policy at: Allianz Direct, Aviva, Generali, Liberty Direct, Link4, YCD, MTU (provided that you provide your spouse's declaration of the amount of discounts and consent to use them in advance).

Swap co-owners in the form

Worth a try when the primary owner of the vehicle is a young man with a short term driver's license and the co-owner is older. Insurance companies usually calculate insurance premiums based on the data of the main owner of the vehicle entered in the documents first. So the young man will get an increase in age. After the entry order is changed (i.e., oldest first), the older person with the higher risk rating is taken into account. When using an insurance comparison website, it's best to go through the form twice, checking insurance prices after entering owners in a different order.

Note. Not every company allows such a transformation. Often the procedure for entering co-owners into the policy should be the same as in the registration certificate. If you find the cheapest premium calculated in this way at Allianz Direct or AXA, you can insure your car without hesitation. In other cases, call a company representative or an insurance company comparison consultant and ask about this possibility.
