Cabin filter for Hyundai Getz

Changing the cabin filter on a Hyundai Getz TB is easy with your own hands. The first step is to open the glove box shelf and lower it to gain access to the cabin filter. The procedure is simple enough to handle it yourself, especially if you have instructions on hand.

Steps to replace the Hyundai Getz filter element

Compared to most other vehicles, changing the cabin air filter on the Hyundai Getz 1TB is relatively easy. Special preparation for this operation is not required. All you need is the new filter element itself.

There is no point in talking about the benefits of the salon, especially when it comes to coal. Therefore, it is not surprising that self-installation of filters in cars has become commonplace. This is a fairly simple routine maintenance procedure, there is nothing complicated about it.

According to the regulations, the cabin filter is scheduled to be replaced every 15 km, that is, every scheduled maintenance. However, depending on the operating conditions of the car, the replacement period can be reduced to 000-8 thousand kilometers. The more often you change the filter in the cabin, the cleaner the air will be and the better the air conditioner or heater will work.

The first generation was produced from 2002 to 2005, as well as restyled versions from 2005 to 2011.

Where is

The Hyundai Getz cabin filter is located behind the glove box shelf, which excludes access to it. To remove this obstacle, you need to open the glove box and follow the instructions below.

The filter element makes the ride comfortable, so there is no need to neglect its replacement. Much less dust will accumulate in the cabin. If you use carbon filtration, the air quality in the car interior will even be noticeably better.

Removing and installing a new filter element

Replacing the Hyundai Getz cabin filter is a fairly simple scheduled periodic maintenance procedure. There is nothing complicated about this, so it is very simple to make a replacement with your own hands.

To do this, we sat in the passenger seat attached to the glove box. After all, it is behind it that the installation site is located:

  1. Open the glove box for other operations (fig. 1).Cabin filter for Hyundai Getz
  2. On the right and left on the side walls of the glove box there are plugs that act as opening restrictors, they must be removed. To do this, we shift each limiter towards the hood. Then we pull the part close to the inside of the glove compartment so that the rubber “shock absorbers” come out through the holes and remove them. After that, we lower the glove compartment (Fig. 2).Cabin filter for Hyundai Getz
  3. Access to the installation site is open, now you need to get to the plug covering the installation site of the filters and remove it. To do this, disconnect the cable from the stove (1 is removed from the place of the hook with the shock absorber. 2 and 3 are unhooked with latches and pulled up or down so as not to interfere). We also disconnect the wire chip 4. Now, on the plug itself, we press on the plug 5 from above, unhook the lower part and remove it to the side (Fig. 3).Cabin filter for Hyundai Getz
  4. That's it, now we just take out the filter elements, first the top, then the bottom, and change them to new ones (Fig. 4).Cabin filter for Hyundai Getz
  5. After the replacement, it remains to install everything in its place and assemble in the reverse order, as well as put the glove box in place.

When installing, pay attention to the arrows indicated on the side of the filter element. They indicate the correct installation position. How to install is written below.

When removing the filter, as a rule, a large amount of debris accumulates on the mat. It is worth vacuuming from the inside and the body of the stove - the dimensions of the slot for the filter make it quite easy to work with a narrow vacuum cleaner nozzle.

Which side to install

In addition to actually replacing the air filter element in the cabin, it is important to install it on the right side. There is a simple notation for this:

  • Only one arrow (no inscription) - indicates the direction of air flow.
  • The arrow and the inscription UP indicate the top edge of the filter.
  • The arrow and the inscription AIR FLOW indicate the direction of the air flow.
  • If the flow is from top to bottom, then the extreme edges of the filter should be like this - ////
  • If the flow is from bottom to top, then the extreme edges of the filter should be - ////

In the Hyundai Getz, the air flow is directed from right to left, towards the steering wheel. Based on this, as well as the inscriptions on the side plane of the air filter, we make the correct installation.

When to change, which interior to install

For scheduled repairs, there are regulations, as well as recommendations from the manufacturer. According to them, the cabin filter of the Hyundai Getz TB heating and air conditioning system should be replaced every 15 km or once a year.

Since the operating conditions of the car in most cases will be far from ideal, experts advise to carry out this operation twice as often - in spring and autumn.

Typical symptoms:

  1. windows often fog up;
  2. the appearance in the cabin of unpleasant odors when the fan is turned on;
  3. wear of the stove and air conditioner;

They can make you doubt that the filter element is doing its job, an unscheduled replacement will be required. In principle, it is these symptoms that should be relied upon when choosing the correct replacement interval.

Suitable sizes

When choosing a filter element, owners do not always use products recommended by the car manufacturer. Everyone has their own reasons for this, someone says that the original is excessively expensive. Someone in the region sells only analogues, so you need to know the sizes by which you can make a subsequent selection.

2 elements with dimensions:

  • Height: 12 mm
  • Width: 100 mm
  • Length: 248 mm

As a rule, sometimes analogues for Hyundai Getz TB can be a few millimeters larger or smaller than the original, there is nothing to worry about. And if the difference is calculated in centimeters, then, of course, it is worth finding another option.

Choosing an original cabin filter

The manufacturer recommends using only original consumables, which, in general, is not surprising. By themselves, they are not of poor quality and are widely distributed in car dealerships, but their price may seem overpriced to many car owners.

Regardless of the configuration, for all Hyundai Getz of the first generation (including the restyled version), the manufacturer recommends installing a cabin filter with the article number 97617-1C000 (976171C000). But you can also install the original analogue under the number 97617-1С001, the dimensions are the same, the width and height are the same.

Salonnik in this model is made of composite and consists of 2 parts. They are completely identical in size, the only difference between the plastic side faces is the so-called herringbone groove system.

It should be noted that consumables and other spare parts can sometimes be supplied to dealers under different article numbers. Which can sometimes confuse those who want to buy exactly the original product.

When choosing between a dustproof and carbon product, car owners are advised to use a carbon filter element. Such a filter is more expensive, but cleans the air much better.

It is easy to distinguish: the accordion filter paper is impregnated with a charcoal composition, due to which it has a dark gray color. The filter cleans the air stream from dust, fine dirt, germs, bacteria and improves lung protection.

Which analogues to choose

In addition to simple cabin filters, there are also carbon filters that filter the air more efficiently, but are more expensive. The advantage of SF carbon fiber is that it does not allow foreign odors coming from the road (street) to penetrate into the car interior.

But this filter element also has a drawback: air does not pass through it well. The GodWill and Corteco charcoal filters are of good quality and are a good replacement for the original.

However, at some points of sale, the price of a first-generation Hyundai Getz original cabin filter can be very high. In this case, it makes sense to buy non-original consumables. In particular, cabin filters are considered quite popular:

Conventional filters for dust collectors

  • Mann Filter CU 2506-2 – technological consumables from a well-known manufacturer
  • Filter GB-9839 LARGE - popular brand, good fine cleaning
  • Nevsky Filter NF-6159-2 - Russian manufacturer at an affordable price

Charcoal cabin filters

  • Amd FC17C: high quality thick carbon liner
  • GB9839/C LARGE filter - activated carbon
  • Nevsky filter NF6159C-2 - normal quality, affordable price

It makes sense to look at the products of other companies; We also specialize in the production of high quality automotive consumables:

  • Corteco
  • Filter
  • Fct
  • Sakura
  • Goodwill
  • Frame
  • J. S. Asakashi
  • Champion
  • Zeckert
  • Masuma
  • Nipparts
  • Purflow
  • Knecht-Male
  • RU54

Sellers may recommend replacing the Getz TB cabin filter with cheap non-original counterparts, much thinner in thickness. They are not worth buying, as their filtering characteristics are unlikely to be up to par.
