Self-service: Lime e-bikes launched in London

With support from Uber and Google, self-service specialist Lime has just launched an electric bike fleet in London.

In total, Lime has produced 1000 electric bicycles in London's Brent and Ealing districts. The launch follows the launch in Milton Keynes, where Lime has been offering its self-service electric bikes for several weeks.

Easily recognizable by their bright green color, Lime electric bikes are located almost everywhere in a "free float" arrangement, a device that works without fixed stations. In terms of costs, each booking is charged £1 (€1.12) and usage is charged at 15p (€0.17) per minute.

In practice, the new service will counter other similar devices, such as those installed by Chinese startups Ofo and Mobike. It will also come to London under the British Capital City program, which, through Transport for London, operates more than 11.000 750 regular bicycles distributed at docking stations throughout the metropolis.
