However, there are cars that do not fit into any of the categories. As a result, buying and driving them is completely pointless. Some of these vehicles have even become famous for their absolute uselessness!

The Most Useless Cars Ever Made

Murano CrossCabriolet is one of the strangest production cars ever designed by Nissan. While the regular Murano is a reasonable crossover, this one has a pop-up roof and all-wheel drive. It's hard to say why anyone thought it was a good idea.

This is the world's first and only all-wheel drive convertible crossover. No wonder no other automaker has tried to emulate this. This horrible car is completely useless in the real world!

Chevrolet SSR

It's no secret that Chevrolet has come up with some pretty weird and useless cars over the years. However, when it comes to uselessness, the Chevy SSR wins.

This quirky convertible pickup was meant to pay homage to hot rods. If anything, the SSR looked like a cheap copy of a hot rod. Not surprisingly, the car was discontinued after only 3 years of production.

Clear P50

It's been half a century since the original debut of this controversial microcar. On the one hand, its tiny size can come in handy when navigating busy cities. This little car weighs so little that it can easily be picked up and used as a suitcase on wheels.

The smallest production car in the world is not as brilliant as you think. In fact, its diminutive size rendered the P50 virtually useless in the real world, despite the best of intentions.

AMC Gremlin

This quirky subcompact car has always been in the Pacer's shadow. Both machines are tiny, poorly designed, and completely pointless to most people.

The AMC Gremlin may not have been the most useful vehicle in the world. However, it was definitely a hit with buyers. In total, over 670,000 units have been sold in the car's 8 years of production.

Reliant Robin

This strange car is perhaps one of the most famous British cars of all time. However, Reliant Robin became famous for all the wrong reasons.

Reliant Robin quickly became famous for his unique dangerous ability. Because the car had a three-wheel drivetrain and a rather strange overall design, the Robin tended to roll over at higher speeds. It's pretty fun, unless you're driving one of them.

Lincoln Blackwood

Lincoln Blackwood might seem like a good idea at first. Ford decided to create a high-end pickup truck that combines luxury and practicality, aimed at more affluent buyers.

In reality, however, the Lincoln Blackwood was neither particularly luxurious nor practical. The model was discontinued just a year after its original debut due to terrible sales, and the nameplate has not returned since.

Amphicar

Most of us dreamed of an amphibious vehicle when we were kids. Back in 1960, the German automaker decided to turn his dream into reality.

The Amphicar Model 770 is a two-door convertible that can be driven like any other car and used like a boat. At least in theory. In the real world, the Amficar quickly proved to be quite terrible both as a vehicle and as a boat. The model was discontinued just 5 years after its original debut and hasn't returned since.

Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 6×6

The purchase of any six-wheeled car is already quite difficult to justify logically. It's a completely different game when it comes to the 6×6 G-Class pickup truck and its practicality or lack of it.

This ridiculous six-wheeler is essentially a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG on steroids. It has a twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 544 horsepower and a set of six giant wheels. As you probably understand, this monster is completely useless in the real world. Although this is a bold statement.

BMW Isetta

Microcars have been designed to be the perfect vehicle for everyday city driving. The Isetta, built by BMW, first hit the market in the mid-1950s. While the idea behind it may have been a decent one, this odd micro-car quickly proved to be rather useless in the real world.

The early release BMW Isetta takes a full minute to reach 50 mph, which is also the car's top speed. Combined with a spartan interior and a terrible drivetrain, this strange thing never caught on.

Honda Insight

The current third generation Honda Insight is very different from the original version of the car. Back in the early 21st century, the Japanese automaker envisioned this strange car as a gateway to the future of automobiles. At least that was the idea.

The original Honda Insight was filled with all sorts of problems. Most of them were much more serious than the terrible appearance of the car. For example, the first generation Insight was notorious for transmission failures.

Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet

Convertible SUVs never seem to work, and the Range Rover Evoque Convertible is no exception. It could be argued that the retractable roof installation ruined what was otherwise a very cool and relatively affordable vehicle offered by Range Rover.

The convertible version of the Evoque is naturally more expensive than the base model. However, the convertible roof adds weight, which takes a toll on the car's performance. The convertible Evoque also has less cargo space, making it useless next to the fixed roof option.

Ferrari FXX K

Believe it or not, one of Ferrari's coolest racing cars is also the automaker's most mindless car. The asking price for this exclusive beauty was a whopping $2.6 million!

Naturally, this V12-powered beast is not road legal. In fact, it belongs to the Ferraris themselves. The automaker delivers the car to any race track the owner desires, complete with a team of engineers and technicians and any necessary equipment. After they've finished driving around the track, the FXX K returns to Ferrari.

Hummer H1

The original Hummer is definitely one of the most controversial cars in the world of all time. You either love it or hate it. There is no intermediate.

The Hummer is as iconic as it is useless. Its spartan nature and power-hungry drivetrain make the H1 terrible to drive except off-road. If you plan to drive on paved roads, you'd be better off using a different vehicle.

Lamborghini Veneno

This might be a bit controversial. Of course, the Veneno, like most Lamborghinis, is an absolutely gorgeous supercar. Although it's far from the most useful.

In fact, the Veneno is nothing more than an Aventador in disguise. It's very hard to justify the ridiculous price of $4.5 million or a limited production run of just 9 units. Just buy a regular Aventador. The performance, base and interior are nearly the same for a fraction of the cost.

Velorex Oscar

There's a good chance you've never even heard of this strange micro-car. This quirky three-wheeler was built by a Czechoslovak automaker between the 1950s and 70s, just when similarly sized cars were starting to appear in other European countries.

The Oscar turned out to be far less practical than originally thought. In fact, it was almost impossible to use it for anything other than city driving. And even then, it was not very pleasant to drive Velorex Oskar.

Chrysler Prowler

This quirky sports car hit the market in the late 1990s. The automotive press, as well as potential buyers, were attracted by the strange appearance of the car.

The controversial but unique appearance of the car is probably its only selling point. Prowler is notorious for reliability issues as well as extremely poor performance. After all, you would expect a sports car that looks as exotic as the Plymouth Prowler to have over 214 horsepower.

Ford Pinto

Safety is an important aspect of any vehicle. While some vehicles are safer than others, they all follow the same methods and principles to ensure maximum safety for all occupants. However, the Ford Pinto is an exception.

This infamous American subcompact needs no introduction. It has been designed to be economical and practical. In fact, the AMC Pacer was the exact opposite.

In truth, the AMC Pacer was not well designed. In fact, it is considered one of the worst cars in history. Competitors quickly unsettled him, and as a result, the model was excluded from the lineup just 5 years after its debut.

Alloys C6W

Supercars have always been about innovation. Back in the 1980s, Ferruccio Covini showed off his unique vision for a high-performance supercar. Its most distinguishing feature has to be its six-wheel drivetrain.

At first, it may seem surprising that someone even thought about equipping a supercar with twin front axles. This unique transmission proved to be relatively successful on the race track. However, on public roads, the C6W is extremely useless.

Cadillac ELR

The ELR is an innovative luxury vehicle that has been designed to revolutionize the automotive market. Although this two-door land yacht looked solid on paper, the production version was not as good.

The Cadillac ELR quickly proved to be incredibly useless to potential buyers. The car was criminally overpriced when it was new. A host of reliability issues make the ELR a terrible choice in the used car market as well. It would be better if it was a concept car.

Renault Avantime

French cars can be quite quirky and the Avantime is a prime example. It was designed to be a minivan with a sporty touch to stand out from its rather bland competitors. He really stood out, but not for the better.

Questionable exterior design is far from the worst feature of Renault Avantime. In fact, its myriad mechanical and electrical problems make this car completely unreliable. As a result, this MPV is completely useless.

Morgan Tree Wheeler

Morgan Three Wheeler is a British icon. However, it is also one of the most impractical cars money can buy. It certainly wasn't built with comfort or versatility in mind.

Of course, the Three Wheeler makes for a fun toy to take on a sunny Sunday morning. However, this is almost the only scenario where owning it would be even slightly useful.

Mercedes-Benz R63 AMG

This is the high-performance Mercedes-Benz you've never heard of. The German automaker only built around 200 units of this monster before shutting down the production line.

However, let's be honest for a moment. As cool as a 500-horsepower minivan sounds, no one needs it in the real world. Sales figures were terrible, and the car's terrible handling certainly didn't help attract potential buyers. Who would have thought?

1975 Dodge Charger

Movie remakes are hardly better than the original. The same can be said about cars, and the Dodge Charger is no exception.

After the '73 oil crisis, Dodge had to remove the legendary Charger nameplate. Instead, the automaker has developed an entirely new fourth generation of the car. The new Charger has lost all of its cool features, from the powerful V8 under the hood to the beefy design.

Lexus CT 200h

This is arguably the best-selling car on this entire list. In fact, Lexus has sold almost 400,000 CT units since its original debut.

While the CT200h might seem like a pretty reasonable choice for daily driving, its underwhelming performance and hard ride are terrible. This makes it completely useless compared to almost all of its direct competitors. Lexus CT200h is a difficult path.

Mercedes-Benz X-Class

Not everyone seems to have learned from the failure of the previously mentioned Lincoln Blackwood. In fact, Mercedes Benz also decided to go into the development of a luxury pickup truck.

Unlike the ridiculous G63 AMG 6×6, this one was supposed to be a regular production car that was supposed to join the automaker's lineup. The X-Class pickup, which is really nothing more than a redesigned Nissan Navara, has been a complete fiasco. No wonder most buyers didn't want to spend as much as $90,000 on a new Nissan truck.

Chrysler PT Cruiser GT

The base Chrysler PT Cruiser, despite its controversial design, is a smart choice in its price range. It is cheap to maintain and relatively economical. A solid choice if you can get over the awful style.

The high-performance version of the GT PT Cruiser is proof that not all cars deserve an upgrade. While it performed better than the base model, the performance-oriented PT Cruiser was a terrible idea even to begin with. There really is no reason why anyone should own one of these eyesores.

Suzuki H-90

The X90 is one of the strangest Suzuki products to date. This little vehicle is so bizarre it's hard to even classify which segment it belongs to.

The targa's two-door sporty compact SUV with a t-top is nearly useless, as you'd expect. It's by no means fast, nor does it work well off the beaten path. The T-shaped roof makes this Suzuki even weirder.

Fiat 500L

Basically, it's a bigger alternative to the cute Fiat 500. Theoretically, the 500L should be more practical and therefore more popular with buyers than its smaller cousin. After all, it offers more space for passengers and cargo.

Aztek is the most infamous crossover in the world. Its distinguishing feature, although not in a good way, was a rather dubious design. In fact, the Pontiac Aztek has gone down in history as one of the ugliest cars of all time.

Terrible exterior design is far from the only drawback of the car. The Azteks suffer from a host of reliability issues as well as poor handling. It really is a worthless car to own.

Mercedes-Benz G500 4 × 4

The Mercedes Benz G-Class has gone from a spartan SUV to a status symbol. Today, you are much more likely to meet a G-Class in front of a luxury boutique than somewhere off-road.

Forget the stupid lift kit, locking differentials or huge tires. In any case, hardly anyone will ever take their luxurious G-Class off-road. As a result, the G500 4x4 is ridiculously useless.

Volkswagen Phaeton

For some odd reason, about 20 years ago, Volkswagen decided to enter the luxury sedan market. The Phaeton was designed to compete with cars like the BMW 7 Series or even the Mercedes Benz S Class.

Volkswagen's luxury car was a massive failure, and the plummeting sales confirmed that the car was utterly pointless. In fact, the German automaker lost more than $30 on every Phaeton sold between 000 and 2002.

Hummer H2

While the previously mentioned Hummer H1 may be useless due to its terrible impracticality, the H2 is arguably even worse. Hummer designed the H2 as a more upscale and toned down alternative to the Spartan H1.

Unfortunately, the H2 has lost most of the ridiculous features that made the original Hummer stand out from the crowd. Except for the terrible fuel economy and gigantic size, that is. The end product is essentially a deluxe H1 stripped of all of its cool features.

Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk

A high-performance SUV is pretty much an oxymoron. Designing a bulky SUV that can perform as well as a small sports car is no easy task, to say the least. The end product is not particularly useful in the real world. However, this is very cool.

Uselessness is undeniably part of the car's appeal. After all, this car is ridiculous in every way, and that's what makes it legendary.

Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Convertible

The S-Class has always been the pinnacle of luxury. The flagship luxury sedan has set the standard for luxury cars for decades.

Introducing a convertible variant paired with a high-performance twin-turbocharged V8 engine under the hood was not the smartest decision. Poor sales quickly showed how pointless this S-Class variant was.

Ford Mustang II

America's favorite first-generation pony car remains one of the most legendary cars to date. However, the debut of the second generation in '73 is infamous for a really terrible downgrade.

Because the second generation Ford Mustang shared the same foundation as the Pinto, the two cars also had problems in common. This includes a high chance of exploding in a rear-end collision, all due to improper fuel tank placement.

BMW x6m

It's hard to understand what the thought process was when developing the X6. This SUV somehow manages to combine all the worst features of a cramped coupe with all the problems of a bulky SUV. This is largely worst both worlds.

Add a powerful 617-horsepower engine under the hood, and you have one of the most useless SUVs money can buy. The X5M is objectively better in almost every way. Even X4 makes more sense!

Hummer H3

The H3 was the last model produced by Hummer before the automaker went bankrupt. In truth, this terrible model was the nail in the coffin that caused Hummer to file for bankruptcy in 2010.

The Hummer H3 was perhaps even worse than the H2. It was more compact in size than the other two and was meant to be even less spartan. The H3 has been plagued with problems ranging from a failing engine to electrical problems. It's definitely a difficult pass.

Smart Fortwo Electric Drive

City cars for most cars are practical and reasonable. The addition of an electric transmission should have made the Fortwo even more practical. At least in theory.

In reality, however, the electric Fortwo's limited range rendered it useless. Buyers had the option to choose between a coupe and a convertible. Just in case the fixed-roof Fortwo's electric drive is no longer useless enough.
