The crisis in the auto industry caused by the coronavirus pandemic apparently doesn't bother some people with big money. Proof of this is the huge sums they pay for cars - both for older models and new cars.
Here are the 10 most expensive cars sold this year. The list includes 8 vintage cars that were put up for auction and bought by collectors. There are also two brand new cars sold for incredible amounts.
10. Ferrari 275 GTB / C6 - $ 2
The top ten ends with a spectacular red Ferrari 275 GTB / C6 coupe, sold for $ 2. This car is intended for competition, and under its hood is a V753 engine with a dry sump and six (!) Carburetors (due to an error in homologation documents got only three). Engine power is 080 hp, which is pretty good for 12.
9. Ferrari Enzo – $2 782 500
In fact, these are two cars sold at RM Sotheby's at similar prices - 2 USD. and $640. An excellent investment, not to mention that driving a car with a 000 horsepower V2 is quite an enjoyable experience.
8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray - $3
The first new car on this list is the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. General Motors followed the tradition of selling the first units of a popular model at auction for at least a million dollars. At the same time, at an auction organized by Barrett-Jackson, they were paid exactly 3 times more.
7 Ferrari F50 - $3
Next comes one of the most beautiful and most impressive cars in the history of Maranello. It was introduced in 1995, when the Italian sports car manufacturer celebrated half a century since its inception. Designed by studio Pininfarina, and under the hood are Formula 1 technologies.
It is powered by a 12 horsepower V520 engine and is not limited by any auxiliary systems. There's not even an ABS!
6. Renault Type AI 35/45HP Vanderbilt Racer – $ 3332500
If you think Renault only makes relatively cheap cars, you are definitely wrong. This Renault Type AI 35 / 45HP Vanderbilt Racer was paid $ 3. The 332 car is powered by a 500-liter, 1907-cylinder, 7,5-horsepower racing engine.
5. Ford Mustang GT - $3
This 1968 Ford Mustang GT became a legend for its role in the movie Bullet, in which Steve McQueen himself drove. The car sold at auction for $ 3,74 million, a record for a model.
4. Shelby GT350 – $385
However, this record did not last long as it was improved by the Shelby GT350 prototype, which is based on the Mustang GT. The car was driven by Ken Miles, a Ford test pilot who is one of the main characters in the 2019 film Ford vs. Ferrari ".
3. Bugatti Type 55 – $ 5 061 380
This incredible amount was paid for a wonderful retro car from 1931, the full name of which is Figoni's Bugatti Type 55 Two-Seat Supersport.
The car impresses not only with its engine - 2,3-liter, 8-cylinder with a mechanical compressor, but also with the fact that over the past 56 years it has had only one owner.
2. Bugatti Type 55 roadster – $7
At the top of this list is another car of the French brand - from the same model - Bugatti Type 55, but with the inscription Super Sport Roadster. The high price at which it was sold is due to the fact that only 38 of these machines were produced. And this one, in particular, was ordered personally by Victor Rothschild, a British spy and politician.
1. Buagtti Centodieci - 8 million
Bugatti's triumph is over, as the leader is another car of the brand, which, however, is now modern. This is the Centodieci Coupe, the Chiron version.
Only 10 units will be produced, one of which was ordered by Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo. A hypercar with a 16 horsepower W1600 engine is estimated at 8 million, not dollars, but euros.
