1. During the tour, a characteristic creak of rubber is heard. These sounds may be barely audible, but their presence usually indicates wear on quiet units. In this case, the car is driven into a pit, and the rubber parts are checked for breakages or cracks. If a silent block with a crack can still last for some time, then the broken part should be replaced immediately.

Preparation for work on replacing silent blocks

To press in new silent blocks, you will need a special extractor.

Before you begin the process of replacing suspension parts with your own hands, you need to prepare a place and a set of tools. A garage with a wide bay window is ideal as a place. As for the tools, for replacement you will need:

1. Ratchet wrench and socket set.
2. Special handle for pressing silent blocks. You can buy this particular tool or ask the garage craftsmen you knew at the time of the job.
3. WD-40 or equivalent.
4. Soap solution.

The right extractor is quite easy to make with a suitable pipe, long bolt and washer.

If you can't get an extractor, you can use available equipment. In this capacity, a tube with washers and a vise of a suitable diameter can act.

Replacement process

If replacing rubber suspension parts is new for a car owner, it may immediately seem like a complicated and time-consuming procedure. Often at the inspection stage, inexperienced owners of the VAZ-2110 decide that they will not succeed on their own. In fact, the replacement process is quite simple. If you do this once, then in the future it will be easy and simple to change any silent block.

The only problem may be pressing the new mount into place, as the new parts may be poorly machined or too stiff. This is especially true for parts made of polyurethane.

Replacement occurs according to the following algorithm:

1. First you need to raise the front wheel with a jack. It is recommended to use a hydraulic jack and place wedges under the rear wheels on both sides. It is desirable to duplicate the cat with an accessory. So the car will definitely not jump out and crush its owner. We remove the wheel.
2. Next, you need to unscrew and remove the wheel.
3. At this stage, you can also check the silent blocks on the levers. If they are loose, then they need to be replaced.
4. The front support is broken. Before that, unscrew the nut that holds it. The blow must be accurate, but not hard. Loosen the gland nut.
5. After that, you can remove the upper arm. To do this, unscrew the bolt. Having removed the sabers, we have free access to the silent block itself.
6. After these procedures, you can remove the silent blocks. For this, a chisel and a hammer are used. They are usually easy to remove, but in rare cases it is necessary to use WD-40. The pieces will be easier to remove if you cut them off.
7. Now you need to install a new part. To do this, you will need a pressure tool. In order for this process to go smoothly, it is recommended to clean the oxide nest and lubricate it, along with the part, with soapy water. Lubricate parts with plenty of soapy water before pressing.
