SBC – Sensor-controlled brake control

Be prepared to decipher the new acronym that will accompany the various ABS, ASR, ESP and BAS.

This time, Mercedes came up with SBC, an acronym for Sensotronic Brake Control. This is an innovative system applied to the braking system, which will soon go into series production. In practice, the driver's control of the brake pedal is transmitted by electrical impulses to a microprocessor. The latter, which also processes data from sensors located on the wheels, ensures optimal braking pressure on each wheel. This means that in the event of braking in corners or on slippery surfaces, the vehicle will have excellent stability due to the faster response of the braking system. There is also a "soft stop" function, which makes braking in urban environments smoother.

The system is very similar to EBD
