Principle of operation and setting
A snap torque wrench equipped with a built-in dynamometer is a handy tool with a small error (up to 4%). Outwardly, it resembles a ratchet, hence the name. The main technical characteristics are the maximum and minimum moments of force, on which the scope of application depends.
At the base of the tool is a handle that can rotate in both directions. Any model, regardless of the design features, is equipped with a main scale that displays the applied moment of force, and an additional one for finer adjustment.
The ratchet is made of durable material, but it must be protected, it is impossible to pull out rusted nuts with it.
Before operation, the click torque wrench must be adjusted. To do this, the required force value is set manually. Procedure:
- Loosen the lock nut at the bottom of the handle.
- Set the desired force value on the main scale - the moving part moves along the body and sets the indicator. If necessary, set the value and on the additional scale, this guarantees high accuracy. For work, their total value is used - if you need to get 100 Nm, 98 Nm is set on the main scale, and 2 Nm on the additional one.
- Tighten the lock nut to fix the indicator and tighten the screw connection until a click is heard.
When the work is done, both scales are brought to the zero position so as not to spoil the spring hidden inside the case. If it is compressed for a long time, this will increase the error.
