Scoot Networks launches self-service electric two-wheelers in Barcelona

Californian self-service startup Scoot Networks is preparing to invest in Europe by announcing its first deployment in Barcelona.

While Coup recently announced the arrival of its electric scooters in Madrid, it is now California-based Scoot Networks' turn to invest in the European market, announcing the first self-service device in Barcelona. The company, which already operates 700 electric scooters and several thousand bicycles in San Francisco, plans to deploy 500 scooters and 1000 electric bicycles in the Catalan capital. Scoot Networks has partnered with Silence, a brand owned by Barcelona-based Scutum, to supply scooters.

For Michael Keating, founder of Scoot Networks, Barcelona is a "natural" market for the company due to its high level of two-wheeler use. A service that will compete with Yugo and eCooltra for electric scooters and Bicing for self-service bikes.
