Today Australia, tomorrow the whole world! Great Wall Haval's mission is to challenge the world's largest automakers, with the Chinese power plant's global output growing by 50%.

GWM Ute (pictured) is already doing great things as a successor to Great Wall Steed.

Great Wall Motor (GWM), arguably the most powerful of China's Big Four auto brands, has released its latest production and sales data, and companies like Toyota and Volkswagen will no doubt be paying even more attention than usual. .

In July, GWM sold 91,555 vehicles worldwide, up 16.9% from the same month last year, resulting in a year-over-year growth of at least 49.9%.

The cumulative sales volume reached 709,766 vehicles, enabling the SUV manufacturer GWM Ute and Haval to hit the 1.2 million unit mark by the end of 2021.

Still far from VW and Toyota, probably around 11 million vehicles (each), but good numbers for a brand largely unknown outside of its home market just a few years ago.

The cumulative overseas sales reached 74,110 units, accounting for 10.4% of total production, up 176.2% year-over-year, with about 9500 units sold in Australia.

Driven by the growing popularity of the GWM Ute, the Haval H6 midsize SUV and the recently launched Haval Jolion small SUV, the brand recorded a staggering 268% year-to-date sales growth through the end of July in the Australian market.

Sold in 60 countries and regions, GWM's other important export markets include Russia, South Africa, the Middle East, Africa, South America and Asia Pacific.

GWM currently operates four factories in China, with four more in various stages of completion, as well as a factory in Russia and KD (Knock Down) factories in Ecuador, Malaysia, Tunisia and Bulgaria.

Technical centers and research bases are located in Europe, Southeast Asia and the USA.

GWM stated, "In the second half of 2021, more new products will be added and new international markets will be developed." So watch this space. VW and Toyota will definitely be.
