Family Fiat Doblo 1.9 Multijet 8v (88 kW)

Doblo, which has already proven itself well in our country with its friendly and special form, has been slightly renovated. We can't miss the more modern front as it is softer and even sleeker, with newly contoured lines. Also changed is the rear, where there is a new bumper and a pair of taillights.

But the fact that it's now fresher looking is almost a minor issue given the richness of this car's usability. The biggest novelty is the last row of seats, and not the second, as has been customary until now, but the third! Yes, as with limousine vans like the luxurious Fiat Ulysee. But this one is much more expensive than the simpler Doblo and not every large family can afford it, or they just don't think it makes sense to invest that kind of money in a car.

In any case, the fact that Doblo is now available in seven seats is good news not only for families, but also for artisans. Rear seat access can be a little annoying, but we have to admit that with some exercise, an adult passenger can also get in there, and grandparents or grandparents probably won't sit there anyway. The kids won't have a problem, of course. What's more, they like to fiddle around with the last two seats, and given their size and the space that's limited by the width of the inside of the tracks, there are actually more kids than adult passengers in this pair of seats.

With the rear row of seats installed, the trunk is hardly worthy of a name, as you won't be able to store anything other than an umbrella, boots and a jacket for their backrest. However, we have to boast of a large opening with a low loading edge that occurs when we open the tailgate.

Therefore, for everyone who decided to buy such a car with seven seats, we recommend buying a large roof box, in which you will store all your luggage if all the seats are occupied.

But that's a whole different story when you get rid of the rear seats. Then for the second row of seats, by the way, three, each with a three-point seat belt, a large trunk with an impressive 750 liters will be created. This is so much that you can easily load three children's bicycles into it and ride with the young people to the playground without knocking down a single seat or fiddling with a roof rack.

This is definitely very useful, but even more useful if you remove all the seats behind the driver and front passenger, as then you can open the day boat for fast delivery. The luggage compartment is increased to a whopping 3.000 liters. Also, this information will appeal to everyone who lives an active life and, in addition to a car, needs space for transporting mountain bikes, kayaks and other sports and adrenaline debris, for which there is always not enough space in an ordinary car.

The good news is that the refurbished Doblo will take you to your destination more comfortably and faster despite being fully loaded with luggage. This is due to the new, more powerful diesel engine with multipoint fuel injection, which develops 120 "horsepower". This engine has already been tested and is known from Fiat passenger cars, where it has already impressed us with its power and torque. Two hundred Newton meters of torque is very helpful to the driver as he can shift with the gear lever at just under 2.000 rpm. This is when the engine develops maximum torque, and at the same time, the large power range and engine flexibility make this even more possible. Doblo accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 12 seconds and reaches a top speed of 4 kilometers per hour. Not bad for a small van, really! ? Consumption is also acceptable; the factory claims 177 liters per 6 kilometers, but in reality the average is 1 liter, and the minimum value we reached was 100 liters if we really paid attention to the load on the accelerator pedal.

We cannot talk about a seven-seater, however, since the Doblo is limited to a chassis that has the task of carrying as much as possible as comfortably as possible, and a large front surface that would otherwise provide good visibility. through large windows. a bit like SUVs, it helps him with this). Road handling and excellent driving performance are of secondary importance in sporty driving.

Unfortunately, we are not praising the gearbox itself as much as the really great engine. It could be faster and more accurate, especially when shifting to reverse. What metal or. the mechanical sound will not elude you, however, if you are still gentle and condescending to it. Of course, this doesn't bother every driver, especially since sports car enthusiasts, who usually have accurate and fast transmissions, aren't looking for a car like this Doblo either. That is why even this gearbox does not spoil the overall positive experience that is so strongly imbued with the wide and versatile usability of the interior space.

We just agreed with the fact that Fiat is asking for 4 million tolar for this beautiful and versatile vehicle. We are not saying: if it were a little better on the inside, if it had more precious plastic and fabric, if the doors were even easier to close, if the seats were more comfortable and the driving position more ergonomic, we would still be what we agree with this price, and therefore we cannot get rid of the feeling that the car is too expensive for what it offers.

  • A very useful car, featuring spaciousness, seven seats and a great diesel engine, but unfortunately a little shallow enough to be said to actually cost 4,3 million tolar.
