Tires - nitrogen instead of air

Tires - nitrogen instead of air Inflating tires with nitrogen instead of air is quite an exotic service among Polish drivers.

In Western countries, the use of nitrogen in tires is already quite widespread. Benefits of inflating tires with nitrogen: better vehicle directional stability, greater wear resistance of tires, lower fuel consumption.

Tires - nitrogen instead of air

“Gradually, drivers are beginning to see that nitrogen is used in tires instead of air,” says Marcin Nowakowski, director of the Norauto car center in Gdańsk. - Every third driver who changes tires at our station decides to fill them with nitrogen. The service is not expensive, pumping one wheel costs 5 PLN, but the benefits are really great.

The use of nitrogen in car tires began with Formula One sports cars, where high g-forces required special protection. Nitrogen eliminates the risk of tire explosion associated with rubber heating in the event of insufficient pressure and provides better tire grip in corners and more efficient acceleration and braking. Increased wear resistance of tires is achieved by reducing by 1/1 the number of cracks that occur due to insufficient pressure. The benefits of using nitrogen also include three to four times longer intervals between subsequent pressure checks and better pressure stability, which in turn contributes to even tread wear and longer tire life.
