Penalty for driving without category A, B, C, D, E, M

In November 2013, new categories of rights appeared in Russia, which naturally caused a lot of questions among drivers about which vehicles they have the right to drive and which not.

To clarify this issue, you just need to understand that the “E” category was abolished, which gave the right to drive trucks with a trailer whose weight exceeds 750 kilograms. Instead, new categories have appeared, for example, in order to drive a truck with a heavy trailer or semi-trailer, the “CE” category is now required.

In addition, subcategories appeared: B1, C1, D1. And accordingly, if the vehicle is with a trailer, then category C1E or D1E is needed. It follows that having a higher category - CE, you can drive a C1E vehicle, but not vice versa.

The rest of the requirements remain in place. A driver with category “C” still does not have the right to drive a passenger car of category “B”.

In connection with such changes, many are interested in the question - what kind of penalty awaits a driver driving a vehicle without the appropriate category.

The answer to this question is contained in the Code of Administrative Offenses. Driving without the appropriate category of rights is tantamount to driving without the right to drive this type of vehicle at all, and for this a fine of five to 15 thousand rubles is imposed, suspension from driving and a ban on operating a car. For such an offense, the driver will have to fork out a lot.

General expenses will include:

  • direct fine;
  • payment for services for the evacuation of a car to a car impound;
  • parking lot payment;
  • getting license plates back.

Moreover, it will be possible to pick up license plates only after the cause has been eliminated - that is, obtaining the appropriate category of rights.

Sending a car to a car impound can be avoided by calling a tow truck for your own money or transferring control to your friend with the appropriate category of rights. However, you still have to pay the fine. Therefore, only one thing can be advised - to figure out what types of vehicles you can drive with your category of rights, and get new categories as soon as possible.
