Switzerland: SBB unites train and e-bike

In Switzerland, CFF, the equivalent of SNCF in France, is launching the Green Class CFF E-Bike, a new mobility offering that includes rail track subscriptions and the provision of electric bikes.

For CFF, which is currently experimenting with this concept, the 'CFF Green E-Bike' offer is in line with the 'CFF Green' offer, which combines, among other things, a general 1st class subscription and an electric vehicle. ...

300 test clients

Developed in the form of market trials carried out in collaboration with Stromer, m-way, Mobility, Allianz, Forum vélostations Suisse and "Battere", the "Green Class CFF E-Bike" is controlled by ETH Zurich, which provides scientific monitoring of the project.

Within one year, about 300 selected test clients will have access to a complete, flexible and environmentally friendly mobile offering at a fixed price. In this way, SBB hopes to gain experience that will enable them to shape door-to-door mobility.

"Initial assessment shows that CFF Green Class customers value this global mobility solution, which allows them to combine different modes of transport according to their needs while actively contributing to the environment." noted in a CFF press release.

Until June 30

Those interested in participating in the project must apply to CFF by June 30th and they will be able to start using their package from September.

It should be noted that the CFF offering is not available for all budgets as it includes an annual rail subscription and the provision of the Stromer ST2 electric bike, which is far from the cheapest on the market. For the 1st class pass, count 8980 Swiss francs (8270 euros) and 6750 Swiss francs for the second class (6215 euros) ...
