Symptoms of a Faulty or Faulty AC Control Switch

As far as the physical switch that controls the air conditioner, common symptoms include parts of the air conditioner overheating, certain settings not working, or the air conditioner compressor not turning on.

The AC control switch is a very important component of the AC system. This is a physical switch that allows the user to turn on and change the settings of the air conditioning system from inside the vehicle. This is usually a special panel with knobs and buttons that allow the user to control the functions of the air conditioning system, such as setting, temperature and fan speed. In addition to allowing the user to manually control the AC system, the switch can also sometimes be used to automatically control and regulate certain functions.

An AC control switch is essentially a control panel for an AC system that is performed by the user. When there is a problem with the switch, it can cause all sorts of problems and quickly break the functionality of the AC system, so it should be checked as soon as possible. As with most components, there will usually be several warning signs to help inform the driver if the A/C control switch has failed or is starting to fail.

1. Overheating of AC parts

One of the first signs that the A/C control switch may be having a problem is that some parts of the A/C may be overheating. The AC control switch is an electronic board with knobs and switches. In some cases, a short circuit or resistance problem can occur in the switch, which can cause the switch itself to overheat. It may become hot to the touch and start to malfunction or not work at all.

The switch also distributes power to other AC components. Thus, a problem with the switch can cause other components to overheat due to excessive power or overheating. Usually, when a switch is hot to the touch, it is defective and needs to be replaced.

2. Some settings do not work or work intermittently

Because the AC control switch is an electrical switch, it contains electrical contacts and knobs that can wear out and break. A broken knob or a completely worn electrical contact inside the switch can cause one or more of the settings to not work or to work intermittently. Usually in this case the switch needs to be replaced.

3. The air conditioner compressor does not turn on

Another symptom that may occur when the A/C control switch fails is that the compressor will not turn on. The A/C control switch is what powers and controls the A/C compressor as well as the entire system. If it is not working properly, the A/C compressor may not turn on, preventing the air conditioner from blowing cold air.

In most cases, a faulty or failing AC control switch will have noticeable symptoms indicating there is a problem with the switch. If you suspect that your switch is out of order, contact a professional specialist, for example, a specialist from AvtoTachki. They will be able to inspect your system and replace the AC control switch if necessary.
