Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Auxiliary Battery

If your car has more than one battery, you may need to replace one if the car won't start, fluid is leaking, or the battery light is on.

For most diesel engines, two batteries are necessary due to the large number of components that require power. The main battery will operate continuously while the secondary auxiliary battery will be continuously charged from the main battery. When the main battery is low, the auxiliary battery will turn on and continue to charge the vehicle as needed. Like the main battery, over time the auxiliary battery will develop problems and need to be replaced.

Usually these batteries give you a fair warning that they need to be replaced. It is important to pay attention and act before dead batteries leave you on the side of the road. Without properly functioning charging components, it will be almost impossible for a vehicle to operate as it should.

1. Car won't start

A dead battery will result in you not being able to start your car when needed. Usually the car starts after being jumped off, but quickly stalls after it is turned off. This is due to the fact that during operation, the car's generator gives it the necessary charge. Once the generator stops, the battery cells will not be able to hold a charge and will shut down.

2. Noticeable leaks around the battery

The fluid that is in your car's battery is very important, because without it, the battery cells will burn out. If you start noticing this fluid leaking out, you will need to act quickly to replace the battery. If this battery fluid comes into contact with other parts of the engine, it can be very harmful due to the corrosion it can cause.

3. Battery indicator is on

A fully charged battery ensures the correct operation of all vehicle components. Without a full charge, there will be a number of things that will not work or will work many times less than usual. The battery light usually comes on when there is a problem with the car's charging system. Checking the battery and alternator will help you narrow down the problems.
