Skoda Scala - keeps the level!

It would seem that now everyone is buying SUVs and crossovers. We often see them on the roads and we also see sales figures that prove their popularity.

However, if we look at the results of all segments, yes, SUVs are wildly popular, but compacts are still the absolute kings. And that is why almost every manufacturer - both "popular" and "premium" - has such cars for sale.

As a result, the market is very large, and buyers can choose from at least a dozen models. Exchange Golf, A3, Leon or Megan in the same breath. AS WELL AS Skoda Scala? What is it and is it worth it to be interested?

Scala, or new Skoda clothes

Skoda's popularity is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing, because more sales mean more income. Damn it, because when a new model hits the market, in a moment we see it so often that we start to get bored.

And that's probably why Skoda Scala represents a completely new style. The grille is similar to other models, but this form of headlights appears here for the first time. It seems to have some similarities with Karoq or Superbe, but you can see it's a new "stylistic language". One way or another, the facelifted Skoda Superb has become a bit like this Scala.

Perhaps the most interesting is the sideline. Skoda Scala. The hood is relatively short, but we also note that it goes on the sides of the car - just like the Superba. The roof rises and falls smoothly, giving the Scala more dynamism. Quite short overhangs also look good, the car body is compact.

We can choose from 12 body colors and 8 types of rims, the largest of which are 18.

And a brand new Scala interior

Dashboard Skoda Scala it is unlike any other Skoda model. We have an all-new air conditioning panel, an infotainment module suspended from the dashboard, and a wide trim panel that can add elegance or a more dynamic character to the interior.

The long wheelbase of 2649 mm promises that there should be plenty of space in the cabin. Sitting inside, we only take comfort in this - it's wide enough for four adults, and none of them will complain about the amount of legroom. And at the same time in the trunk there is room for 467 liters of luggage.

Material quality is good at the top of the dashboard and decent at the bottom. Nothing that we didn't expect.

The Active hardware version for PLN 66 is the basic version. Skoda Scala, but in it we already get almost all security systems, including Front Assist and Lane Assist. We also have LED lights as standard, a dusk sensor or Radio Swing with a 6,5-inch screen, and two USB ports on the front. Please note that these are USB-C ports, which take up less space and charge the phone faster at 5A (instead of 0,5A in standard USB), but require the purchase of new cables. For PLN 250 we will also add two more connectors on the back.

On this top-of-the-line version, we also have a reversing camera, cruise control, heated front seats and washer jets, dual-zone air conditioning, heated electric mirrors, a smartlink system + radio with an 8-inch Bolero screen, and much more.

Many people liked the virtual cockpit and we can also order it Skoda Scalaalthough it costs an additional PLN 2200. Of the more interesting pieces of equipment: for PLN 1200 we can buy a Bluetooth Plus module, thanks to which we will get a shelf for wireless charging of the phone, and the phone will be able to use the car's external antenna, so the range will be better.

We tested the version with the base 1.0 TSI engine with 115 hp. and 200 Nm of maximum torque. This engine is only available with a manual six-speed transmission and allows for overclocking Stop 100 seconds to 9,8 km/h.

It's not a speed demon. It's not exciting driving, but it probably wasn't meant to be. Is it driving pleasure? Indeed, yes, because in almost every maneuver I feel confident and stable when cornering and driving at higher speeds. Drivers who feel more secure with this Scala character will surely be pleased.

The 1.0 TSI engine has already made itself felt in terms of work culture. It is, of course, a 3-cylinder, but with excellent soundproofing. Even when we accelerate to 4000 rpm, it is almost inaudible in the cabin. One Skoda Scala it is also quite muffled, so that the movement here is carried out without unwanted noise.

The pendant itself Skoda Scala it was certainly designed with more comfort in mind, but there was nothing we could do about it. There is also a Sport Chassis Control suspension lowered by 15 mm, which certainly improves driving performance - perhaps we will try it on another copy.

The 1.0 TSI can be economical, but it's very sensitive to changes in driving style, like turbocharged engines. So we can move the declared 5,7 l / 100 km even in mixed mode - only on the highway - but if we start to be tougher on the gas pedal and delay gear shifts, we will soon see 8 or even 10 l / / 100 per computer km.

Skoda Scala Functional and technologically advanced, this is one of the newest compacts, so it has a lot as standard.

But will he win hearts at first sight? I doubt it. Skoda Scala this car has practically no flaws, except for one thing - it does not cause great emotions.

You will definitely like each other - he will always be ready to drive, always make the trip more pleasant and allow the driver to relax, but this will not be love. This is what cars are more aimed at - scale he can handle everything at once.
