Skoda Superb at a wedding... on business!

Diversity in choosing a car that the bride and groom will choose on the first, albeit not too long, but certainly important first trip - a joint trip - allows you to give free rein to your imagination. Increasingly, beginning marriages are arranging unusual, rare, funny, and most often just old cars on their wedding day. However, keeping comfort in mind, we invited our friends to test the editorial Skoda Superb in combat conditions - as a limousine that will take them to the wedding. So we were able to test how the car behaves in a unique role.

Preparations

Long before day zero, the Skoda Superb passed two major tests. The future groom, who is not a short person, positively assessed the amount of space above his head and under his feet, sitting on the back sofa. Thanks to the almost maximum forward displacement of the front seat, there is no shortage of space. The second important test was the body color consultation with the future bride. In this case, the effect was easy to predict. Red paint may be associated with a slightly more dynamic and sporty car, but the dark grille, rims, tinted glass and chrome strip around the window line effectively smooth the overall picture. Training on the part of the driver was limited to practicing smooth cornering and braking skills. There was also a quick cleaning and vacuuming.

Test Day

One can only guess that the editors of Skoda on the wedding day were no less afraid of the stage than the bride and groom. However, she did not show it. The road to the “scene” was quite long (about 120 kilometers), so we offered her a relaxing treatment in the form of a game of “use as little fuel as possible”. The average result of about 7,5 liters over the entire route met our expectations. Just before the first important course - with the groom on board to the bride's house - we managed to slightly raise the above result. It turned out that the passenger liked the volume of the 2-liter engine and the power of 280 hp. However, this was the last opportunity to test the full power.

From the moment the bride appeared on board the Superba, only two words reigned: Laurin and Clement. It took a little longer than usual to sit on the back sofa in the wedding dress, it turned out that even after the chair was pushed back, the space between its back and the seat was a bit cramped. Pleasant entertainment from a short trip was the ability to adjust the temperature and airflow directly from the panel located on the armrest casing. Another surprise: voluminous flowers could not get on the shelf. Not fitting under the windshield, they ended up in the front passenger seat. However, there was plenty of space in the trunk, even 4 boxes belonging to the witness were not impressive at 625 liters. The correct shape of the luggage compartment and the possibility of closing the lid with a button were also evaluated. The driver can also open the trunk without getting up.

While driving, previous attempts to improve the Skoda's ride have stood the test. It turns out that not everything is so simple and obvious. While the performance of the suspension in Comfort mode leaves nothing to be desired, the biggest problem was the performance of the DSG automatic transmission. Perceptible “jumps” of gears can be compensated by skillful control of the gas pedal. Surprisingly, the sport shift mode works better when the ride is smooth and quiet.

Convenient, but presentable?

The Skoda Superb is hard to deny in travel comfort, especially in the back seat. The body is long and wide, which in turn offers plenty of room, especially for passengers' legs. The Laurin & Klement variety is also well suited for use as a limousine. Seat covers in black leather with elegant stitching and embossing. The classic body line is another plus. However, the question arises, can the Skoda Superb also be considered an executive car? The best answers are questions from wedding guests who don't follow automotive news on a daily basis. The message is simple: "I wouldn't have thought it was a Skoda." Of course, among many drivers one might say: “uh, Skoda….”. However, sometimes it's worth wondering if there is anything special in this car, besides the badge on the hood?

We would like to thank Weronika Gwiedzie-Dybek and Daniel Dybek for their obvious help in creating this material. All the best for your new life!
