This question is answered by representatives of the Motoraporter company, which, at the request of potential buyers, assesses the condition of used cars. According to hundreds of inspections conducted in the first quarter of this year. created a report showing the most common faults that were not reported to vendors.

– Analyzing hundreds of reports that have been made all over Poland, I must unfortunately say that true information about the condition of a sold car is rare, says Marcin Ostrowski, Chairman of the Board of Motoraporter sp., which the sellers do not report does not work. air conditioner. Many sellers say that simply "punch" it is enough, but usually the malfunctions are more serious.

In every fifth advertisement, the electronics associated with the mirrors were faulty. Repairing electronically controlled mirrors in relatively new and expensive car models can cost thousands of PLN. Other common electronic and electrical component failures include non-working seat adjustments (18% of cases), malfunctioning sat-nav (15%), and damaged window controls (10%).

During the inspection, Motoraporter experts compare the advertisement with the actual condition of the car that was handed over to the customer for inspection. The car is also verified by VIN databases. The reports submitted always suggest possible repairs that the future owner must make in order for the car to be fully functional and not pose a threat to the driver, passengers and other road users. “In the vast majority of used cars, filters, fluids and timing should be replaced immediately after purchase,” warns Marcin Ostrowski.

Motoraporter experts emphasize that 36 percent. tested vehicles will require replacement of exhaust system components. A third requires cleaning the air conditioner and adding coolant, a third requires replacing tires and replacing stabilizer struts. Other common faults are the already mentioned electronic faults (22%), engine compartment leaks (21%), incorrect vehicle geometry (20%), paint defects (18%), worn brake discs (15%).

- If you sum up the costs of these repairs, it may turn out that they absorb half, or even more, of the cost of a newly purchased car. So let's calculate the repair costs before buying a car, advises Marcin Ostrowski.
