How long will a Renault Zoe travel on a single charge? Record: 565 kilometers • CAR

Renault Zoe ZE 40 has a battery with a useful capacity of 41 kWh, and in the version with the R90 engine its range is 268 kilometers without recharging. We will get a similar result in the version with the R110 engine. However, someone beat this result: the Frenchman covered 564,9 kilometers on a battery.

The Renault ZE profile boasted a record-breaking result on Twitter, and it belongs to the Frenchman who runs the Caradisiac portal (source). Due to the low driving speed of 50,5 km/h in meters, the car consumed an average of only 7,9 kWh/100 km. It is worth noting that during normal driving, Zoya needs almost twice as much energy.

However, in the photo with meters, the most interesting thing is the total consumption, which is ... 44 kWh. Since the Zoe ZE40 has a usable battery capacity of 41kWh, where does the extra 3kWh come from? Yes, there is a ~2-3 kWh buffer in the machine, but it is used to protect the cells from degradation and the user has little to no access to it.

> Why is it charging up to 80 percent, and not up to 100? What does all this mean? [WE WILL EXPLAIN]

The "excess" 3kWh seen on the meters is probably due in part to differences in measurement temperatures - the test was done on a hot August day - but the most important thing here seems to be the energy recovered during the recuperation. When the driver took their foot off the accelerator, some of the energy was returned to the battery, to be used moments later to re-accelerate the car.

We add that the author of the portal Caradisiac traveled to the headquarters of the company. Under normal circumstances, even at this speed, it would be a real feat to drive 400 km.
