How much does it cost to replace the battery in the BMW i3 60 Ah? 7 euros in Germany for a jump up to 000 Ah • ELECTROMAGNETS

In 2016, BMW announced the possibility of replacing the batteries in the old BMW i3 60 Ah (21,6 kWh) with a new 94 Ah / 33,2 kWh battery. It turns out that there are people who decide on such an upgrade, although it costs 7 euros, i.e. equivalent to 30 PLN.

According to initial plans, replacing the battery with a larger package was to be possible in Germany, the UK and a few other select markets. However, it seems that the range was limited: the British had to travel to Germany to update the battery. According to Twitter (source), he was the first person in the UK to take this step!

Seven thousand euros is not the only cost of the operation. The car will indeed get a new 94 Ah package, but according to official information, the owner must keep the BMW 60 Ah package. So we return the old battery, pay the equivalent of PLN 30 and in return we get a car with a real range of 183 km instead of the original 130 km.

It is symptomatic that although the information posted on Twitter came in a few days ago, the person interested in the update receives the 94 Ah package, that is, the previous generation kit. The BMW i3 (2019) already uses a 120 Ah or 42,2 kWh battery.
