The case of the ill-fated Tesla Model S P85 (2013), which appeared in Hooi's garage, is over. Tesla did not want to play with the renovation and offered to replace the package for $ 22 (equivalent to PLN 500 net). Meanwhile, in an unauthorized workshop, car repairs cost about $ 86, which is equivalent to net PLN 600.

The topic of the car was very hot: a Tesla Model S P85, purchased at an undisclosed price, informed the owner shortly after receiving that it would not be able to be charged above a certain level, which limited the vehicle's range to 49 miles / 79 kilometers... And the manufacturer did not want to repair the car, he immediately offered to replace the battery at a cosmic price, approximately at the price of such models in the secondary market.

The creator of the Hoovie's Garage made the decision based on the expert opinion of the local Tesla center, and the renovation was actually valued at $ 22, equivalent to approximately PLN 500 net. If it was held in Poland at similar rates, it will cost about PLN 106. for a car with a mileage of 156 kilometers and a cost of maybe 000 or 140 thousand zlotys.

As the the machine's warranty expired a few months earlierHovey's garage was chosen to be refurbished by Rich Rebuilds. On the phone, Rich suggested that the repair could be cheap and easy, as it would involve adjusting a cable that has a tendency to stick (at the outlet?). If this were the case, the cost of the fix would be the equivalent of approximately PLN 3 (US $ 850).

Unfortunately, it turned out that significant voltage deviations appeared in two battery modules - these are modules No. 1 and No. 3... A quick glance is enough to see that the differences are significant, instead of the standard 3,686 V we see, for example, 3,611 V and 3,637 V:

Final repair costs were:

• USD 1 (equivalent to PLN 500) for each of the above modules, and there were two,
• $ 750 for other parts,
• IN FACT, with difficulty, it was about 5 dollars (000 PLN).

Thus, the car was brought back to life for about 1 / 5-1 / 6 of the cost of buying it on the secondary market.... This is still a significant amount, but much less than the net $ 22 that Tesla is demanding. In the world of combustion vehicles, this is a cost somewhere between a gearbox change and an engine change, of course also outside of authorized services.
