When is it necessary to change the brake fluid?
Many motorists simply add brakes, not paying particular attention to either the recommendations from the service book, or to objective signs of deterioration in braking performance. Meanwhile, a complete fluid change cannot be avoided if its level falls below the minimum mark, and the corresponding symbol on the dashboard lights up.
Of course, you can simply add fluid, but after that it is worth checking the serviceability of the brakes, since the level drift indicates malfunctions in the operation of the main brake cylinder or the system for supplying TJ to the wheels.
The volume of brake fluid in the car
When the repair of the brake system is planned or a planned replacement of the brake fluid is planned, the car owner thinks about how much brake fluid needs to be bought to replace and completely fill the brake system. In a classic passenger car, not equipped with ABS, TJ contains, as a rule, from 550 ml to 1 liter.
In the vast majority of cases (on Priore, Grant and other models popular in our country), information about which liquid needs to be filled can be found either on the expansion tank body or on its cap.
Topping up liquid or completely replacing it
If the car has traveled 50-60 thousand kilometers or has been in operation for 2-3 years, experts recommend completely renewing the brake fluid, since the old one has already absorbed a lot of water and has partially lost its properties. It may be necessary to add fluid if the machine has been idle for a long time, or vice versa, it is operated too intensively and travels, for example, 80-100 thousand kilometers per year.
Much depends on the type of fluid and the driving style. So, an aggressive, sporty style may require more frequent brake changes. As for its specification, it all depends on the manufacturer's recommendations. So, one of the most popular brands of Dot 4 is advised to be updated every 50-60 thousand run or after repair of the braking system.
How much TG is contained in VAZ models?
Most often, quite practical and inexpensive liquid Dot 4 is poured into the cars of the Volga Automobile Plant. In the systems of classic models (from VAZ-2101 to VAZ-2107), it does not contain so much - 0,55 liters, but more modern Ladas (VAZ-2114, "Kalina", "tenth" family) already require a whole liter of brake fluid. However, if flushing the system is planned, it is better to purchase a little more fluid than required. One and a half liters will be quite enough, but since packaging is carried out only in liter containers, it is better to take two such packages.
It is also useful to know that most of the liquids used (in particular Dot 3 and Dot 4) cannot be kept open for too long: a maximum of two years!
