Slippery cylinders

Slippery cylinders Increasing temperatures and forces acting inside the engines force the use of more and more advanced elements of their protection. In addition to oils, special measures are introduced to protect engines from wear.

During engine operation, various metal elements interact in it, therefore, they usually rub against each other to one degree or another. This friction, on the one hand, reduces the efficiency of the engine, which must lose some of the generated energy in order to break the frictional resistance, and on the other hand, causes wear on the engine parts, which leads to a deterioration in efficiency and performance.

Thanks to the anti-friction measures, the engine temperature is reduced. Engine oils do not overheat, they stay at optimum density for longer, the cylinders remain tighter and thus the compression pressure improves.

Many measures are based on Teflon, which, by adhering to engine or transmission components, reduces friction, protecting their working parts from abrasion.

In addition to Teflon, there are also ceramic means of protecting engines and gearboxes. The ceramic powders contained in them provide glide. - Ceramic preparations adhere better to metal parts, due to which all friction nodes are better protected. They also have a lower coefficient of friction and better withstand higher temperatures. – says Jan Matysik from the importing company, including Xeramic ceramic motor protection.

Oil companies "do not recommend" the use of such agents. Scientists from the Institute of Petroleum Technologies are also skeptical about this type of additive, but admit that after a bad experience with one of them, they did not test the next.

However, not everyone denies them. According to research conducted by the Institute of the Automotive Industry, after using Xeramic, fuel consumption decreased by 7%, and power increased by 4%.

Recently conducted by one of the automotive weekly tests have shown that the promises of manufacturers recyclers are greatly exaggerated. Ceramic materials proved to be the best in this test.

You should not expect miracles from such drugs. From the promised ten or two percent improvement, you need to cross out the ending “teenager” and then the result will be real. Owners of older vehicles with high mileage will surely notice great benefits. The more worn out the engine, the easier it is to improve.

The disadvantage of using such funds in a new car, especially under warranty, is also the risk that in the event of a breakdown it will not be at fault. In the event of an engine breakdown, it sometimes turns out that the car owner is to blame, who changed the properties of the oil by flooding the air conditioner.

Of course, you also need to choose drugs from well-known companies that have been on the market for years and have a good reputation. Especially unpleasant can be preparations containing iron particles, which should fill the cavities in engine parts. If the metal particles are too large, they will clog the filters.
