Back in black! 2022 Renault Koleos price and features: New Black Edition joins line-up of rivals Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Mitsubishi Outlander and Subaru Forester

The Black Edition is the latest member of the Koleos family.

Renault Australia has expanded its midsize SUV range as the Koleos is now available in a limited Black Edition of 400 units.

Starting at $40,090 plus travel expenses, the Black Edition costs $2700 more than the mid-range Zen variant on which it's based, though buyers make up for their additional expense with a longer list of standard equipment.

Specifically, the Black Edition adds dark gray 19-inch alloy wheels, gloss black side mirror caps and roof rails, side steps, "Limited" badging, French flags on the B-pillars, and a power liftgate. as black, gray or universal white metallic paintwork.

Inside, the Black Edition stands out from the crowd with an 8.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, black faux leather upholstery, yellow stitching, brushed carbon-look trim and Limited door sills.

However, Zen buyers can now also get a power tailgate and portrait 8.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system by opting for the new $2000 Easy Life package.

Like any other version of competitors Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Mitsubishi Outlander and Subaru Forester, Black Edition is equipped with a 126-liter naturally aspirated petrol four-cylinder engine with 226 kW / 2.5 Nm.

A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is also used across the range, while the Black Edition follows Zen's lead by only offering a front-wheel drive version.

As reported, the entry-level Koleos Life, Zen and Intens increased by $600 (see full pricing table below) on March 1st "due to significant changes in materials and shipping costs in recent months," according to Renault Australia.
