Fuel injectors - removal and installation

Attention! The procedure for removing the fuel injectors is the same. Therefore, removal and installation are shown on the example of an injector.

Disconnect the handpiece (power plug) from the nozzle).

Remove the oil filler tube along with the crankcase breather hose.

Disconnect the fuel supply line from the injector.

When unscrewing the union nut of the fuel line, hold the nozzle so that it does not turn with a wrench through the hexagon.

Attention! It is not allowed to change the shape of the bend of the fuel lines. Seal the openings of the disconnected fuel lines with plugs > to prevent dirt from entering them. Inspect the sealing cone of the fuel lines. If the fuel lines show signs of flattening, replace them with new ones.

Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the heat-reflecting screen from the injectors.

Press off the fuel return pipe plug and disconnect it from the injector.

Attention! The retaining clip must remain on the nozzle body. If it is removed, then it must be replaced with a new one.

Remove the injector bracket bolt. The bolt has a multifaceted socket head.

10. Remove the nozzle together with the accessory holder using a suitable screwdriver.

Attention! If the nozzle is tight, it must be removed using a puller and special pliers. To do this, the coil must be removed and the threaded adapter (accessory) fitted. In this case, the nozzle must be replaced with a new one.

Clean the nozzle body and atomizer with a wire brush. The atomizer (mouthpiece) of the mouthpiece itself should be wiped with a soft cloth.

Lubricate the injector seat pin with special grease, such as MERCEDES-BENZ 001 989 42 51 10.

Before cleaning the nozzle seat, close the hole through which the atomizer enters with a suitable bolt or plug to prevent dirt from entering the combustion chamber. And only after that, clean the hole first with a soft cloth, and then with an oval and cylindrical brush.

Then blow out the mounting hole with compressed air and close it. After that, wipe the hole with a soft cloth and remove the plug.

Attention! Nozzle disassembly is not allowed.

Installation

Reinstall the injector together with the bracket, replacing it with a new O-ring.

Screw in a bolt of fastening of a support of fastening of a nozzle. Do not tighten the bolt.

Loosen the main fuel line mounting bolts. This is necessary in order not to stretch the fuel lines to the injectors.

Secure the fuel line to the injector by screwing on the union nut. Do not overtighten the union nut.

Tighten the main distribution pipe mounting bolts to 9 Nm.

Tighten the bracket bolt holding the injector.

The tightening torque of the screws is 7 Nm. Then tighten the bolt 180° (1/2 turn).

Tighten the cap nuts securing the fuel lines to the injectors, holding the injector by the hex wrench to keep it from turning.

The tightening torque for the union nut of the new fuel line is 22 Nm.

Attention! The swivel nut torque rating must not be exceeded.

Connect the fuel return line and secure it with a clamp.

Replace injector heat shield.
