Removing the caliper assembly on the Priore

It is quite rare to remove the calipers on the Priora, and in most cases this has to be done, for example, to replace the brake discs. This procedure does not require special skills and you can perform it yourself without any difficulties, having only a few necessary tools at hand:

  • head 19
  • ratchet handle and crank
  • special wrench for unscrewing brake pipes and hoses

So, first you need to jack up the car and remove the front wheel. After that, unscrew the brake hose from the back side:

Now we unscrew the two caliper mounting bolts, which are clearly shown in the photo below and marked with arrows:

When the bolts have been loosened with the crank, it is better and more convenient to use the ratchet further in order to do everything more quickly:

Then you can remove the caliper assembly with brake pads by lifting it up:

To prevent the brake fluid from flowing out of the hose, it is better to lift it up and fix it. Then you can perform all the necessary procedures, or change the caliper to a new one if necessary, after which we install all the removed parts in the reverse order.

After this procedure, you will need to bleed the brake system, since air has most likely formed in it and the braking performance will be low.
