Sunglasses. Why do drivers need winter?

Sunglasses. Why do drivers need winter? During the winter, the sun is rarely seen, but when it does, it can be a traffic hazard. A small angle of incidence of sunlight can blind the driver. Snow reflects light, doesn't help either.

While many may complain about the lack of sun in winter, its low position on the horizon can blind the driver. Meanwhile, it only takes a few seconds when the driver is not looking at the road to create a dangerous situation.

Winter sun

The sun can be more dangerous in winter than in summer. Especially in the early morning or late afternoon, the angle of sunlight often means sun visors don't provide enough protection for the driver's eyes, says Zbigniew Veseli, director of Renault's Safe Driving School.

Watch out for the snow

An additional risk may be ... snow. White color perfectly reflects the sun's rays, which can lead to a glare effect. Unfortunately, loss of vision even for a few seconds is dangerous, because even when driving at a speed of 50 km / h, the driver drives several tens of meters during this time.

Sunglasses required

Although it seems that sunglasses are the typical summer accessories, we should also wear them in the winter. High-quality glasses equipped with UV filters and polarizing properties can protect the driver from temporary glare, as well as eye strain caused by exposure to strong sunlight.
