Sondors Metacycle: the new electric motorcycle available to everyone

The Sondors Metacycle is a small, versatile electric motorcycle that combines elegant design with an affordable price tag.

Following the launch of a wide range of electric bicycles, Californian Sondors' offering extends to motorcycles. On Thursday, January 14th, the brand unveiled its first model: the Sondors Metacycle.

Wheel motor and removable battery

Called the "new mantra" of the manufacturer, Sondors Metacycle is mounted on an aluminum frame and features a rather elegant design. The lack of restrictions associated with the integration of the classic gas tank, in particular, allowed the manufacturer to leave an empty space in the middle of the frame. A very good example of the freedom that electricity gives to designers.

An electric motor integrated in the rear wheel developed a rated power of 8 kW and a peak power of up to 14.5 kW. The lithium-ion battery, installed at the bottom of the motorcycle, stores 4 kWh of energy. It can be easily removed for recharging at home or in the office. In terms of autonomy, the manufacturer promises up to 130 km. Probably with moderate use.

The Sondors motorcycle weighs 91 kilograms, so it is moderate. On the bike end we find an inverted front fork and Brembo hydraulic disc brakes.

Affordable Electric Motorcycle

Wanting to democratize electricity, Sondors came up with a model that everyone can afford. If it turns out to be less efficient than a Harley Davidson electric motorcycle, Metacycle will certainly be much cheaper. While the price of a Harley model in France starts at 30 euros, a small electric motorcycle from Sondors is advertised in the US market at a price of 000 US dollars, which is the equivalent of approximately 5 euros.

Available for pre-order on the manufacturer's website, Sondors Metacycle will begin shipping in October 2021 across the United States. There is no mention of its marketing in Europe at the moment.
