Diesel engines are designed to last longer due to the high compression they are subjected to. With proper maintenance, these vehicles can have over 900 miles on the odometer.

Engines that require diesel fuel in the United States tend to be heavy-duty vehicles such as full-size trucks and buses that require longer highway runs and an energy source that gives them the power to travel long distances.

Not only are they different in that they use diesel fuel instead of regular gasoline, they also perform alternative forms of compression and injection, so maintenance services are slightly different, recommended times, and some auto parts.

Therefore, if you have just bought a diesel engine car or are thinking about it, you better know how to keep your car in top condition.

So here are some tips for keeping your diesel engine in good condition.

1. Timely perform maintenance

Diesel engines have turbocharger which is vital for the proper functioning of these vehicles. Then it is vital to carry out maintenance, check and change the necessary oils so that the turbo is in maximum condition.

2. Replacement of motor fluids

This means constantly checking antifreeze, brake and steering fluid levels, and paying close attention to make sure they don't run out and that the engine runs that way. Otherwise, the engine may be irreparably damaged.

3.- Do not wash the engine often

Many times we tend to constantly wash the engine without the right measures, and this is done for aesthetic reasons and not for the good of the engine. It is strongly recommended not to use pressure washers or foaming detergents. 

4.- Check the oil filter

To keep your diesel engine running at its best, you should also keep your oil filter clean and free of debris at all times. If you don't and everything starts to clog up, your car or truck will lose power and eventually won't run until you clean everything up and replace it with new parts.
