SpinCar - a revolutionary car from Poland?

It is small, environmentally friendly and can rotate around its axis. His name SpinCar is a car developed by scientists from the Warsaw University of Technology. The creators of this car claim that thanks to the solutions used in it, we will forget about traffic jams, exhaust fumes and, above all, problems with returning back.

The revolutionary project is the work of Dr. Bogdan Kuberacki. Its structure solves, among other things, problems such as parking problems or turning around in narrow streets. It will also be a good offer for people with disabilities who will be able to drive it while staying in a wheelchair.

The novelty of the car is its unique chassis, which allows you to rotate around its axis. You don't need to turn it back or go back. Just turn the car in the direction we have chosen and continue your journey. All the theoretical assumptions of the designers are confirmed by the already built model on a scale of 1:5. Moreover, they are of the opinion that the swivel chassis can also be used in buses. If it were used for a U-turn, there would be no need for a loop, but a simple stopover.

At the moment, five versions of this car have been made. Depending on the needs, his body is round or elliptical. SpinCar Slim is a narrower version designed for two people. Its width is 1,5 meters instead of 2 meters. This makes it easy to drive through narrow streets between parked cars. It is an ideal vehicle for services such as municipal police and others who have to enter narrow lanes.

The Teen version is a one-seater designed for young people. Its maneuverability should be comparable to an ATV or a scooter, but unlike them, it will be much safer.

In addition, the manufacturer also provided the following options: Family, offering space for two adults and two children, as well as Deliver with a cargo compartment and New Life for two, one of whom is a wheelchair user.

SpinCar New Life is a continuation of the original car design assumptions. Previously, it was designed as a disabled vehicle. His name at that time was Kul-Kar, but he did not yet have the ability to turn on the spot. Its price should have been in the region of 20-30 thousand. zloty. The cost of SpinCara should be comparable. As Dr. Kuberacki admits, those who take up its mass production will have to invest in testing the applied solutions. He also mentions that the project will be presented to serious investors in the near future. The actual construction of a full-sized and fully functional prototype costs between PLN 2 and 3 million.

It is not yet known what engine the car will be equipped with. The original concept uses batteries, but designers are also looking at hybrid or pneumatic motors that use a cylinder filled with compressed air instead of a drive. According to Dr. Bohdan Kuberacki, the future belongs to such a drive, and not to batteries, which already at the production stage are harmful to the environment.

At the request of the creators of SpinCara, a survey of drivers was conducted. 85% of them rated the car positively. All disabled respondents who participated in the study gave the highest scores to the disabled option.

However, experts are skeptical. Wojciech Przybylski from the Institute of Road Transport is positive about the concept. It emphasizes excellent maneuverability and thoughtful solutions. However, he has doubts about the implementation of these ideas. According to him, SpinCar is a car on flat roads without curbs. He is also concerned that the innovative wheel system could be inferior to the traditional wheel system in terms of stability.
