Ways to bypass the standard Starline immobilizer via CAN and LIN digital buses

To use a wireless crawler, you need to select the type of module: Starline A93, 2CAN, CAN + LIN or 2CAN + 2LIN. Whether the brand of your car is suitable for installing such equipment can be found on the Starline website. And then go to the company's installation center, since special programming of the Starline CAN LIN immobilizer crawler is required. You cannot do this on your own.

Owners of cars with standard immobilizers know that the devices prevent the engine from starting automatically. This means that a warm engine in winter and a cool interior in summer are not available to the driver. But the problem of remote start is solved by Starline - bypassing the immobilizer via Can. What is this technology, what is its purpose and functionality - let's figure it out.

Immobilizer crawler: what is it and why is it needed

Electronic anti-theft systems - immobilizers - have proven their effectiveness and have long become the norm. Devices are installed already on the conveyor. "Immobilizers" reliably block some parts of the car (fuel system, ignition), preventing theft. The "native" key with a chip registered in the "head" of the car is inserted into the ignition lock. And you can start the engine only in this way, and in no other way.

Installing an immobilizer in a car

But car developers came up with a clever scheme to bypass the standard immobilizer using Can- and Lin-tires to start the engine from a distance. The crawler is a piece of security equipment. It looks like a miniature box. An additional electronic unit is hidden inside, in which a relay, a diode and an antenna are located. The latter contains a registered chip from the car.

The box is placed in an inconspicuous place in the cabin. "Immo" refers to an additional chip when autorun is needed. One of the most successful security systems has proven itself "Starline" - bypassing the immobilizer via the Can-bus. The mechanism eliminates the contradiction (conflict) between the standard security system and the additional alarm, allowing remote engine start.

Existing ways to bypass the standard immobilizer

Before you buy a device, it would be useful to familiarize yourself with the popular methods of bypassing the factory "immo". There are two types of mechanisms.

The classic way

On European and Asian cars, an RFID anti-theft system is more often installed.

The classic version of the Starline crawler is a small-sized module with a key in which the auto chip registered in the “brains” is hidden.

There is also a relay that supplies or interrupts the contact of two antennas: a consignment note - on the ignition switch and a built-in one - in the mechanism case. To control the relay, a special alarm output is provided, which is required only at the time of activation of the remote start.

Integrated digital crawler in Starline alarms

Later, they came up with a more advanced scheme than the analogue with chip keys - this is a keyless bypass of the regular Starline immobilizer. Such a mechanism is installed on the alarm system of the same name with an integrated digital Can-bus. The latter performs the imitation of the chip.

To use a wireless crawler, you need to select the type of module: Starline A93, 2CAN, CAN + LIN or 2CAN + 2LIN.

The principle of operation of immobilizer crawlers

The driver mounted the device with a chip key, fixed the antennas on the ignition switch.

Further, the crawler is activated and triggered according to the algorithm:

  1. You are signaling an autorun. The electronic unit of the alarm system sends a command to the crawler's antennas.
  2. At this moment, the transmission of the received signal to the ignition lock antenna and "immo" begins.
  3. The engine control unit processes the command, and the burglar alarm starts the engine.

If one of the keys is lost, the owner has to order a copy: such a disadvantage is excluded in wireless models.

What is the difference between a keyless crawler and a conventional one

The difference between the two types of crawlers lies in the principle of action:

  • Normal - installed near the ignition switch. The “immobilizer” receives a command from the chip key on the antenna, the data is verified with those registered in the memory of the electronic control unit of the machine. Having found a match, "immo" makes it possible to start the engine.
  • The other one works bypassing the standard immobilizer without a Starline key. The equipment generates a signal without a chip, which is pre-registered during the "training". This is not a duplicate key. The code is transmitted via digital buses to the electronic "brain" of the immobilizer, and the car is removed from the alarm. "Learning" algorithms are stored on the manufacturer's website.

The wireless crawler does not require intervention in the car's standard wiring. Installation of equipment in the centers of the Starline company does not affect the warranty obligations of the official dealer. The keyless version of the crawler does not respond to heat, cold and electromagnetic waves.
