Landline phone for a SIM card - how to buy better?

Not so long ago, a landline telephone was a mandatory attribute of every Polish home. Today they are found mainly in companies, school secretaries, offices and nursing homes. Although their sales are undoubtedly lower than a few years ago, they still do not disappear from store shelves. What's more, they've made significant technological advances: a landline phone with a SIM card is now more affordable than a version connected to a telephone cable. How it works? Which to choose? We answer!

Landline phone with a SIM card and analog phone - differences

At first glance, both devices are similar. They consist of a fairly large camera that is controlled by an alphanumeric keypad and a few extra buttons, as well as a display at the top. Charging is also similar; This is done using wall chargers into which the camera is inserted (as is the case with today's smartphone docking stations). However, what may surprise your grandparents is the handling. How does a landline phone with a SIM card work? Just like analog, with the difference that instead of connecting to a telephone cable, it is enough to insert the card inside - like in a cell phone.

Which prepaid landline to choose?

Despite their less frequent use on the market, there are still many landline phone models available. The first differences relate to the level of mobility. There are two main types of landlines available:

  • Wired - the handset is connected to the hearing aid with a cable. A conversation is possible only in the place where the camera is located (it can be mounted on the wall or stand on a table or cabinet).
  • Wireless are the models described in the previous paragraph; with a handset, which is an enlarged version of a mobile phone with a keypad and a stationary charger. A conversation is possible even more than 100 meters from the charger (usually up to about 50, up to a maximum of 300, depending on the model).

What features of a landline phone with SIM should you pay extra attention to?

  • Phone book capacity - for example: the MAXCOM MM35D wireless model offers the possibility of storing up to 500 contacts!
  • The size of the display and keys is especially important for the elderly. In this regard, the Panasonic KX-TG 6821PDB model with a 1,8-inch display deserves attention. In turn, the above-mentioned MAXCOM stands out again in terms of the size of the keys.
  • Operating time from a single charge (in the case of wireless communication) - even the longest telephone conversations rarely exceed an hour. It happens, however, that the handset is crookedly placed on the docking station - and stands there without charging even for several days. The longer the maximum possible waiting time, the less likely that the phone will turn off in this case. Among the most popular models, you should pay attention to the Panasonic KX-TG 6821PDB: the standby time is as much as 170 hours, i.e. about 7 days.
  • The possibility of mounting on the wall - the place where the phone will be placed depends on the habits and preferences of the future user. Many prefer models hanging on the wall - in this situation, the MAXCOM MM29D with a spring cable and the possibility of suspension is perfect.

Best prepaid landline

Which model works best is primarily determined by the intended use of the landline phone. In the case of a purchase intended for an elderly person, it is worth choosing one of the offers of the MAXCOM brand, which is characterized by equipping phones with very large, legible buttons. On the other hand, in office environments, phones with the GAP (multiple handset capability) standard will work very well. These include, for example, the Panasonic KX-TG2512PDT.

When looking for the ideal model, of course, you should carefully read all the parameters and compare at least a few offers with each other. Evaluate the possibilities of the above-mentioned popular fixed phones!
