STC - Stability and Traction Control System

STC is a traction control system developed by Volvo (the term "stability" is used too often). The STC system prevents the drive wheels from spinning during start-up and acceleration. The same sensors that we know from ABS measure the rotational speed of each drive wheel, and as soon as they register unequal speeds (that is, as soon as one or more wheels start to spin), the STC system sends a signal to the engine control unit.

Already after 0,015 seconds, the amount of injected fuel and therefore the engine power is automatically reduced. The result: tire traction is restored in a fraction of a second, providing the vehicle with optimal traction.
